This is correct, although it still beats Amazon when it comes to price-matching: No price matching, even if the price drops before your order is delivered, so I appreciate them still having a price match policy and being easy about it (I bought this drive 2 weeks ago, just jumped on chat and they refunded $35!)

They do have Best Buy Plus ($50/year) which will get you a 60-day returns/price match window, and free 2 day shipping. Not a great deal unless you buy/return a lot from them.

One other note about bestbuy price matches: They only match once. If you buy an item today and it drops $50 next week, they'll match it. If it drops another $50 the day after, they won't adjust the price again.

With all that said, I have about 10 of these 14/16/18/20TB EasyStore's and haven't had any issues with them. Great for the price and highly recommended at this deal.

Yep, it was after Black Friday I think. It will go to $200 again. $250 is too high.

Buyer beware: Best buy's return policy has changed to 15 days for most items which also extends to their price match. This has bit me a couple of times recently. They used to be 30 days which seems to be the standard for most physical and online stores.

Keep in mind, with the BestBuy credit card, you get 6% cash back in the form of bankable points with every purchase. I just used $40 cash-back from a ~$700 drone I got last year, so closer to $220 with tax! And I'll have another $15 in points the next time I go to use BestBuy 🤷 ♂️

What are your predictions on when the $200 for an 18TB drive come? Black Friday?

Yes, you can shuck them. I have shucked quite a few of these easystores. Depending on where you plan to put them into, you may need to tape over the 3.3v pin.

Do you have any info on these 18TB ones not being as reliable as the old 8TB easystores? Just like you I'm planning to replace them but I have seen people saying they're much more louder, less reliable, problems because they're filled with helium, 7200rpm being a disadvantage etc

I do not unfortunately but these are supposed to be white label WD red pro drives which are not helium seal from what I've seen. I would say they're certainly a bit louder than my HGST HC520 drives. They certainly do get pretty toasty if you don't have proper cooling since they are 7200rpm drives.

so true... it's funny.. amazon used to be the king of price match.. now it's gone full circle and best buy is like the last good electronics store (that's common everywhere) that will price match with no issues (from my experience) ... same with returns... they just take it back no questions asked (my experience). i always try to buy from best buy when I can now... need to keep that store alive...

amazon has turned into such trash. that said, I do love the amazon financing... 0 interest.. been paying a phone off for the past 2 years with 0 interest using the amazon monthly payments

FYI: One of these failed on me in less than a year in my NAS. Was able to send the bare drive into warranty (since I threw away the enclosure) and they sent me a replacement in an enclosure lol.
do they try to get the drive working again when you send it in?
do they get to see all the linux distros you were storing on it if they get it working again?

The other great thing about bestbuy is the replacement warranty -- they'll give you the full amount paid for anything (TV, VR headset, game console) years later if anything goes wrong. I got $999 back from an HDDVD player after the format died

Don't think they tested it. The drive had a SMART error but still ran fine, they just sent me a new drive. And no... I zero out the drive before sending it in 👍
