If you have a Samsung TV from the past 2-3 years the soundbar will work along with the TV speakers to give you even more immersion.
Cons would be the inability to get full control over each channel, you cannot fully mute the center channel for example, atmos effects are quite weak even if you the largest satellite speaker stand, putting your streaming stick straight into the soundbar for direct audio pass through will give you a black screen for a second or two before playing.

If you are adventurous you could do this modification for better atmos effects but this would obviously void your warranty : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9fUWxy
I can post my equalizer settings in case anyone wants it but it's best to try out the soundbar for yourself first.

You would be far better off just buying a sub for your system and not bothering to swap to the Samsung though.
I agree, I've same Sonos but with sub. I'd rather recommend getting a sub than switching to Samsung.
I have it using Q-symphony with my s90c right now.
I like having it, but it would never be a major factor in determining what TV I would buy.

Samsung are also known for doing software tweaking that improves sound quality from one generation to the next. I don't have 990D but someone posted in another forum "I have both the q990c and q990d.....both soundbars seem to have almost identical hardware, but q990d sounds much more immersive."
