i've had the opposite experience with hisense vs TCL tv's. Just goes to show how much of a random dice roll buying these cheapo TVs can be
I meant strictly from a picture quality standpoint
The Hisense U8 has consistently been rated overall better than the TCL counterpart

As far as reliability..I personally would not trust either brand without an extended warranty

I have the Hisense U8H and people were saying, at the time, that it was as good as the Samsung QN90a. I have both of them and to my eyes the Samsung is the superior TV on many fronts
The Hisense was the better value though

It looks like all of the great reviews are for the 655 not the 646. Can anyone confirm this?

I badgered my brother into going for the 65 inch when it was around 450 at bestbuy. He had to return with a rented van to pick it up and the associates were under the impression he had already paid upon first pickup attempt. Ended up getting it for freeeee
So he stole it.

A warranty won't do jack about crappy software though. Have had zero hardware issues with my TCL 6-series I bought in 2020, but the software updates are hit or miss. Will not buy another Roku OS TV regardless of the brand.

I agree with that
I have had to reboot my Hisense U8H before that just froze and wasnt reacting to inputs
Glad I bought the 5 year Best Buy/Geek Squad warranty for it

I have never had to reboot the Samsung QN90a

I bought this from besbuy for the same price in November. I would recommend. Also have a qm8 in the living room. Have enjoyed both. I have noticed an issue with the r646 where the picture dims and I have to hard reboot to fix. Not sure what's causing that. I also recommend installing projectivy launcher and disabling Google launcher - look for a guide.
Projectivy launcher, Stremio, smart tube. My exact setup. It's perfect. Totally agree with the launcher, I can't stand all the ads and bloat on the stock one.

Wow...what is this like a 3 year old TV?
no, despite the exact same model # as the last few years, this is the MINI-LED version. RTINGS does not appear to have a review with this updated model but in theory it should score even higher, often Mini-LED have better colors and contrast ratio.

How does this TV stay on the market since it's from 2021? I thought previous year's TVs, like 2023 models for instance, are typically phased out completely after the 2024s are already available for several months.

Bought the 65 inch version and had issues pretty quickly. Not uncommon for any tv, but the issue it did not have a serial number sticker. So returning was an extremel7 frustrating experience. Check your TV to ensure the serial number is present

I own a 75" of this same model and have people positively comment on the quality of the picture all the time. If my budget allowed, I'd snatch this up right now.
