Not on the 2023 model.
Well it is. But there's an additional sodimm slot. 16gb is soldered onboard.

Ah, that's awesome, just saw a reviewer mention (and show) it here: https://youtu.be/lcCjBJ4ipoM?t=376

Battery life is better on the 2024 model. I have both.
Must be something wrong with your 2023. I can use vscode, type docs and other basic tasks for over 12hrs starting from 100%. For every 10% it can squeeze ~1.5hr of usage. Web browsing and videos are easy on battery too.

Discharge rate can drop to ~4w.

Mine was slotted to come on 8/26 but came today.

Instantly went to my local BB to return it as soon as I came home from work. I purchased 'Excellent' condition and not only did it come looking like a wreck (major scratches and dings), but there was no original packaging, power brick or anything at all. Ridiculous.

I'm assuming my 'Excellent' either got mixed up with a different quality order or they actually thought this was 'Excellent.' The laptop was shipped with its cover exposed to the outside in a box that wasn't even taped closed. I mean, I didn't think they literally ship an open box without an ounce of tape on it at least.

If I were home to accept it I would have said hell no but my wife was here and thought I'd be upset if she declined. She said the UPS guy even said it looked sketchy.

Anyway...not a knock on the product or deal itself, just sketchy BB business or something I suppose. If someone ordered a lesser version and got an 'Excellent' version, woooo! BB gave me no problems with the return but they looked at that thing with a microscope when I returned it.

Only do pickup for open box, never order as you'll waste time. When you pickup OB you can check the condition and reject it on the spot. In some cases manager might work with you and replace it.

Live and learn. I rarely shop at BB. This was my 1st 'open box' experience.

I got the year before's model a year ago on a really similar deal. First one I got smelled real bad of cigarettes. Second one was great though. It's a great laptop but it has one problem, which is the bottom is poky. The part of the hinge that dips down has sharp edges and it kinda sucks to use on your lap (but the airflow means you probably shouldn't do that too much anyway). If you get one, download Ghelper.

Bought one a couple years ago but just got too hot for my liking. Just picked up a "good" condition with this deal. Whoever had it previously had dusty fingers but after just one wipe it looks brand new. Running well so far.

I wasn't really looking for a gaming laptop, but tried out a 'fair' condition near me and I think I won this time! Original box was with it, which the employee was kind of surprised about too, and it was in brand new condition. Only thing was that nothing else in the box, including the charger, but picked up a SlimQ and problem solved. I did figure out that if you change any hardware (swapped HD and added RAM), you need to have a power adapter to get the thing to boot up. It won't charge on USB-C if you change hardware and it's dead in the water until you can plug something in to the power port.

I was able to get this as "Fair" at a nearby Best Buy with a charger and box for $700 when I checked this post. A tiny bit of Isopropyl Alcohol later, I had a mint system that was easy to upgrade to a 2TB drive. Unlike the latest model, I can even add more memory. Beautiful machine that has a 4060 and avoids the whole Intel experience. Steal of the year for me, but as the title says YMMV

Damn.... 675.99 for fair and 780.99 for excellent. I would scope this up if I didn't already have a computer

Does BB do price adjustment for open box items? Picked up a good condition for 760ish price and its about 40-50 lower now. I also have a fair condition ready for pickup before the price went down. Wondering if they adjust the price during pickup like normal new items for open box price changes too.
