I know someone who purchased 8000+ movies on Vudu (Now Fandango). What happens to that extremely expensive collection if Fandango ever goes out of business?

In any case, there is a much less expensive Panasonic 4K Ultra HD player that is low on bells and whistles that I snagged for $123 at BB [bestbuy.com] (open box excellent). Reviews say it does what it's supposed to -- play a 4K disc well, but is a minimalist player. It does state it does 4K upscaling, but not sure it does the same quality as the 820 and the 420. I'll have it in a couple days.

If my TV doesn't support Dolby vision, and I already have a Xbox Series X, is there any reason to get a UB820 or UB420? I primarily only own 4k uhd discs

So, yes, the player really can make a difference.
This applies to HDR10 versus Dolby Vision as well
Rtings did a comparison and their findings agree with my eyes..ie..by far the most important link in the chain is the TV in regard to video quality
I own this player and have for a few years now
This player was in my main media room until I tried to play Nosferatu on 4K disc recently
I was experiencing 3-4 sound dropouts about every 20 mins
Pulled it out and connected the $99 LG UBK90 refurb player. Connected it to a Sony A95L
Beautiful ,to my eyes, and no sound drop outs!!
BR players were like $100 years and years ago...
There are only a few manufacturers left...so not competition
