Its because of type of solder they use. I stuck mine in the oven after following other peoples suggestions and it worked. Been working just fine for the past few months now.

edit: Had it for 1.5 years then started to boot loop, then disassembled it and stuck it in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, after letting it cool down, reassembled it, and it's been working ever since.

look up how to repair these using an oven.

Mine also broke after about a year. Using AAWireless and it's been great so far

My first unit died little over one year, and Motorolla service department sent me a replacement. The second unit also died in about a year. It's okay when it works, but it breaks too soon.

Another post trashing this adapter for constant disconnect issues and praising the AAWireless Two for working perfectly and having an app for customization.

I didn't realize these had so many issues. Mine wouldn't work more than a few seconds the other day and I thought it was an issue with my car.
Edit: just looked it up and I purchased it almost exactly one year ago.

I've gone through 3 over the 2 to 3 years i've been using, each one lasting about a year. Two warranty replacements and the 3rd one just died outside warranty.

The apps are limited to Android auto apps correct? Like I catch watch YouTube videos while parked?

Tried one of these and it was the worst. It took 30-40 seconds to connect and that was only when it would actually connect. Very buggy and awful. I got an AAWireless2 and it is way more stable.

Can confirm that these only last a year.

I bought this in 2022 (3 years) and it works 98% of the time. It rarely disconnect. It does get stuck in "connecting to Bluetooth" mode occasionally; however, pulling the plug in and out fixes it. It takes a little time to auto connect when you first start the car but it's much quicker than me having to plug in my phone.

Mine works fine still 2 1/2 years later, but I switched over to the AutoProX thinking I would use the Dex features......so far I have in fact NOT used the Dex features
