Mine died after about 2 mo. of usage, it was in the garage. The warranty process was very slow and cumbersome, and it did not cover any of the spoiled food either. I had at least $200 worth of meat that went spoiled. I went with a different brand for replacement after my experience.

Is this garage safe? Anybody have any reviews? Looking for an upright
Manual suggests following for ambient temp:"To ensure proper ventilation for your freezer, the front of the unit must be completely unobstructed. Choose a well-ventilated area with temperatures above 60°F (16°C) and below 90°F (32°C). This unit must be installed in an area protected from the elements such as wind, rain, water spray or drips."https://manuals.plus/m/3f593482e2a22b5024b6aa6e6774582ceb6ce00d49f0b5e07dc9ae2b4a4e326d

Manual defrost, ugh.
Manual defrost is better. If you have an frost free, it runs through cooling and warming cycles constantly, causing freezer burn on your items. I'd rather have things last longer and do a manual defrost once a year than have it cycle.

Does not sound garage ready. Garages regularly get below 60*F and sometimes above 90*, depending on where you are.

I have two of these, purchased in June 2024. I had both units running in the garage for more than a year, and recently ended up moving both to the utility room for convenience.

These are garage ready freezers and in my experience does a good job of maintaining consistent temperature even in peak southern summer. Ice will build up gradually and it will require a manual defrosting eventually, but I have not done that yet. I purchased it for around $210 and for the money it is a good deal.

Totally agree. This unit isn't set up for the garage. Garage-ready freezers should work in temperatures from 0-110°F. Plus, if it were garage-ready, they'd definitely mention it in the product title so customers are in the loop.

Unlike chest freezers, don't these lose cold air each time you open them? Also, are these no-frost? I hope not.

What's different safety wise between being in a garage vs being in the kitchen?
Anything else other than Ambient temperature?
A freezer that is "Garage Ready" mostly is that even if the temperature of the garage gets lower than the freezers low temperature setting, it will continue working(Circulating freon and freezing the food)
The reason a freezer may shut-off is because the thermostat is "Fooled" into thinking its cold enough inside the freezer That's when it shuts off.
So, if the freezer is exposed to say -3F and the freezer is set to zero degrees F, it will stop freezing (Operating the compressor etc)So, the frozen food may thaw and spoil.
Most garages don't get down to zero degrees F anyway.
Most freezers are set to below zero F, so there is no issue even if it's not labeled "Garage ready".
When it's winter and 15F outside my home, It's usually 30F or higher in my garage. So, my freezer works fine.
The only time there could be an issue is if a Refridgerator isn't Garage ready. The thermostat is usually set just above 32F. So, if the Garage temp gets down to say below that temp..say 32 degrees, the thermostat thinks the fridge is cold enough, so it stops refrigerating and the food will spoil over a period of time.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, a garage-ready upright freezer with automatic defrosting will cost $700 or more.
