Same here. I was loving brewing in the "winter". We can't really call it a winter since a cold night here is 45. My wife acts like it's sub zero temps when it drops under 50.
LOL, same here. It was overcast yesterday and the house got down to about 68 and my wife had to turn the heater on. She's not happy unless it over 85.

i have an interview on friday at my same employer but as an assistant brewer... over a hundred of applications, 5 of which were interns at my employer in the past 2 months, and a few people from within... I have a good shot, they have 2 openings... my guess they will take 1 from the brewery and 1 new person.... i have a 50:50 shot at getting it... 1 guy has previous experience plus kegging at my employer, but then I have the entire bottling line experience plus i run both fillers and i sanitize all our lines and valves.

I've been real busy at work and haven't been on SD for a while.

I cleaned out the bar/brewery side of the basement. I already put some waterproof strip around the perimeter to try and keep any water directed to the french drain. I moved the washer and dryer to a corner that will eventually become a bathroom once I move them upstairs. I have an area planned out for a utility sink and brewery on the back wall where I'll vent out the boiloff, one long side of the basement will be the bar, one wall will be for a dartboard/tv/anything, and the other side contains storage and A/C, hot water heater, etc.

I'm leaving an opening on both sides of the stairs so when the other half of the basement is completed into a family room we'll be able to watch TV from the bar so I can definitely use my wall as a dartboard.

This weekend I'm framing and putting up a plastic barrier before hanging my mold-resistant drywall. I'm not taking any chances down there.

Just looking at the drawings and the markings on the floor is making me giddy.

Plus you put DVD in the cases, that's got to count for something. Good luck Thumbup

I used to put the DVD and bottles in the cases. For the past few months I run both of the fillers. So all the bottles coming out of the brewery I can say that I bottle them. Whee
the interview today was bitter sweet. They are trying to ad another step to become a brewer. Before it was either run the fillers or to run the keg line. Also with the understanding on how to use the proper valves, reducers, lines, etc and how to sanitize them. Now they are trying to make it that you have to run the keg line. Kegging is redundant and lame at my brewery. So I am still in the runnings but not hopeful and not going solely on the kegline.

What is a good price for the legging pieces of this listing (kegs, co2, regular, hoses, connector). Currently the only thing I have is a new freezer:

Danby kegerator fridge, can hold 3 pony kegs and a CO2 tank
15 gallon glass demi-john carboy, for fermenting 15 gallons of beer at a time
4x 5 gallon pony cornelius kegs for storing and drinking from
all the necessary adapters for regular kegs and pony kegs
plus a small brew pot, strainer, funnel, hydrometer, thermometer, and maybe more that I'm forgetting for the brewing
CO2 tank, new last summer. good for 4 more years. brand new regulator, can't remember the brand but its a really nice one that I just upgraded to.

Pickup only, I am thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of $650 for everything as that should be well below new prices, but will consider any offer and likely accept it.

Its my understanding that a 15 Gallon fermentor does not buy me much for 10 gallon batches.

We use 15.5 gallon (1/2 barrel) empty kegs for fermenting 10 gallon batches. They don't let light in and they won't break if you drop them. They work well for us.

there is no way i would use a 15 gallon GLASS carboy...insanely heavy and insanely fragile...your asking to bleed to death.

Thinking the following:

$25 for each keg.
$30 for regulator
$40 for CO2

? for connectors and hoses. Not sure on what is permanently attached to the fridge and what is not.

Jamil's Evil Twin seems to have turned out nicely. Very low bitterness (no bittering hops in the boil). 8 oz of hops added in the last 30 minutes. Very tasty.

Just got a deal on a 5gal All-grain setup with:
2 - 10 gal rubbermaid round coolers with ball valves and false bottom
50' 1/2 Immersion Chiller
Turkey Fryer
7.5 gallon pot
6 gal carboy with handle, stopper, airlock, etc

All for $150. This will be for mobile brewing, or eventually to turn over to a buddy.

7.5 gallon pot is going to be a tight fit for a 5 gallon batch. I've had my 8 gal all the way to the top quite a few times.

I'm still trying to figure out how this system works... I guess one cooler will hold the sparge water while the other is the mash tun.

I can always reduce the amount of water and boil up some more if needed... maybe that's why there are two coolers?

I think eventually if I don't use these often enough and none of my buddies want to get into brewing then I'll convert them to a Brutus build.

That's correct. One HLT and one mash tun. You most likely will only be able to do 60 minute boils in that kettle.

I can just add water partway through the boil if I need to in order to get it back where it needs to be. After 60 mins I can see where I'm at, figure what my boiloff rate is and add a quart or two. The kettle is the least of my worries since I'll have my sanke kegs (HLT and BK) if it's really a problem.
