Great laptop, I own one.

HOWEVER it doesn't support HiDPI (high definition) scaling on external monitors. It's been a pain for myself and many users. In practice this means that the image on an external monitor is grainy. There's a thread on MacRumors discussing the issue and it's widespread with all M1 powered devices.
I'll wait for 2nd gen with more application support

the naysayers don't know what they're talking about. this is the best laptop i've ever owned. I own an iPhone and haven't used a laptop regularly for a few years, but signing into my apple ID allows for a pretty seamless transition with the touch ID. this thing runs cool all the time. there is literally no grill or way to get to the innards anywhere, which means no fan to block and overheat your shit.

i know i'll get the downvotes from the pc master race, but their downvotes sustain me.

if you have the budget for a great laptop with equally great battery life and iOS integration, buy this. if you don't, or you're salty about macs, then don't.

i like the laptop.

I know 8gb is plenty for 90% of the stuff that people do... but if I want to do the occasional 1 nonstop hour of 4k video encoding for final uploading to YouTube in 4k, will 16gb Macbook Pro M1 with 16gb make any noticeable difference?

Thanks!

Can you install Windows 10 on this, natively, without bootcamp?
No. They do not have Bootcamp. You can use Parallels to run the ARM64 version of Windows 10. It is working well for me, but I have the 16GB model.

Yes, you will not get the occasional (or frequent depending on use) beach balls as it attempts to swap with less memory available. Also there is one less core available in the Macbook Air relative to the Pro - part of the set of compromises to make it work without a fan.

Not that the typical cafe warriors are going to do anything that will reach that situation.
