That's the speed of the external seagate drive that this deal is for.

Internal Xbox is 2.4 GB/s raw, but 4GB/s compressed. Gotta compare both speeds.

The drive is priced accordingly for the speeds you're getting to hit the fast resume feature.

Yes, this is more expensive then comparable PCIE4 NVME but not hugely more and not that much more than non-sale drives. Yes, the proprietary nature of it is a big turn-off for a lot of people, even a deal-breaker. BUT, this isn't something that people are getting totally shafted with and while there are valid criticisms, I do think they're being exaggerated. This is more like a light rain, not balls of fire falling from the sky.

TU on the deal. There's a lot of bitching in this thread, but you realize the idea of a proprietary system like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft build is that the system designer has control over the variables.

That said, $198 for a 1TB with lightning fast memory speed and is designed, licensed, approved to work on the Xbox S/X platforms does not seem too bad to me. Again, you don't have other options beyond those that MS licenses for Xbox. So, unless somebody knows of a better deal on 1TB of FUNCTIONAL Xbox memory, then this deal should get a TU.

I would not pay and wont pay over $130-50ish for one of these. My Gen 4 PCIE NVME was only $150 over 4 months ago.

Haven't seen this on sale anywhere else, and this is the only option to expand an XBox series X currently and allow games to run from it

Well, again, your gen 4 PCIE NVME from 4 months ago won't work on Xbox's proprietary system. So what's the point? Yes, a proprietary Xbox licensed drive will be priced higher than some random third party drive... nothing new. Regardless, you still can't use your drive on Xbox and likely never will be able to use it.

That said, people need to compare the prices of what actually WORKS on Xbox rather than just complain that other non-licensed drives that don't work on Xbox are cheaper.

the fact that there is still only one option for these cards says to me that they aren't profitable for seagate, but MS needed to have the option available for people so they are subsidizing them. I fear it will be another year or two before they start to really drop in price or before we see other sizes available.

Except for the fact that if enough people think like me, these things wont sell, prices will plummet to a more fair market value instead of this crappy pricing.

How many people think they should be able to plug a Gen 4 PCIE NVME into an xbox and get it to work? Most people understand that a computer component has to be compatible before they can plug it in. Using your reasoning, I should be able to plug in a USB2 thumbdrive and it should work, just because I happen to have it, even if it doesn't come close to specs. Just makes no sense.​

No what makes sense is denying seagate a profit so its forced to price things fairly instead of overpricing things and force people to buy priority hardware to suck consumers dry of additional money cause they can.

On top of it, seagate is garbage so over paying for their brand name is another joke all in itself.

This is definitely bottom barrel SSD. It's not like you have a choice.

When they rate these things, the 7Gbps metric is meaningless, they could be talking about the slc cache, which is that fast on ANY/ALL bottom barrel ssds.

The profit margin is HUGE at $200. Microsoft makes us take it up the butt.

If the profit is so high why are others not making SSDs for this currently? It has been out for 8 months now (and probably known for months before that)?

If it is so easy to make a better SSD at a lower price, why aren't others making them? No other manufacturers have even announced plans to. Some here have even mentioned that MS is subsidizing this so that there is at least an option out there.
