Why would you drive to Microcenter when you can get it at Amazon for the same price after gas or electricity costs? Some even have 5% cashback at Amazon which makes it even cheaper than Microcenter..

If you've got a Microcenter near you, it's $10 cheaper at $199.99 for this same processor.

I don't think AMD does that unlike Intel with the onboard GPU. I heard a whisper somewhere the next gen APU would do that. But at this price, wait until the new round of ryzen chips that just got launched become available. 5600x for 200 and 5700x for 300.

Your ryzen 2700 Passmark score is about 15000, 5600x is 22,000 and the 5700x is probably just gonna be a little less than the 5800x score of 28,000.

The 5600x would be a good cheap upgrade especially for gaming with the single core thread speeds will make a big difference. And this chip is also the most efficient cpu on the market as well

This is probably a stupid question, but bear with me.

I have an x370 board with a Ryzen 2700 (non-x) OC to 3.8ghz and 32GB 3200mhz ram. My video card is an RX 590 8GB.

I know on laptops the integrated graphics will take over until a game or something demanding is ran. Is it the same for desktops?

My video card likes to run its memory at full speed when I have both 1440p 165hz monitors running. I'd like to run that off the IGP unless I'm gaming.

With the laptops they do, but I remember with Haswell when a third party controller did the toggling between the two. It may change with Zen 4 as you mentioned.

Yeah I dunno what the desktop versions of these chips do. There's probably a YouTube video on it. But the G model chips are also weaker. I don't think the 5600G would be much of an upgrade for the guy with the 2700

Due to IPC gains it would be a solid upgrade. These latest APU's match the 16mb L3 cache that the first and second gen Ryzen's also had. If he's 4K gaming then no need to upgrade at all since GPU is the bottleneck

It's really a 25% increase. I mean it's something. But when it comes to making a cpu upgrade, I wouldn't upgrade my cpu unless it was a very size able increase in performance. If I had a 2700, I wouldn't upgrade unless it was the new ryzen 5700x for 300.

The 5600G Passmark score is 19,800 and the 2700 is 15,600. This benchmark scales really well to any kind of performance across the board. It's true the single core is a lot better but I would go with the new 5600 at that point or get a deal on the 5600x. If it was me, I would personally wait for something that is minimum 50% better. Preferably 2x better to really see a sizable improvement in performance you can see and feel. Imho

It truly depends. If the person plays a lot of CPU dependent games they could see up to 40% boost from Zen + to Zen 3

I just put one of these in my PC after my R9 290X gave out. I will add a real GPU eventually (love watching the prices go down!) but I have to say I could live with this for a good long while. I don't play AAA games at max settings.

Here's my experience at 1080P:
Fortnite, mostly Medium settings, 55-75FPS
Rocket League, Quality preset, other effects like motion blur etc turned off, 80-120fps
CIV V, Disco Elysium, Hollow Knight, etc - these run on a potato, of course they are fine

This is less than I paid a month ago and a great deal!
