I used two cards I bought in the last sale last month, in the past week and received the credit in 24 hours to the account history in both accounts. Further I was not charged for the first month on either. Also referral codes also worked in combination with the credit. These were X3 cards and of course YMMV.

I have redeemed this periodic offer 4 timnes over the last 12 months. $30 credit appeared in my account within 24 hours of initial line activation.

That's incorrect. I just ended my 2 months of minimal free service via porting out. After taxes and $10/month, I had $3 left in credit.
