There really needs to be some sort of NVMe adapter (with built in heat sink design?). It's fine if only certain models can natively play Series X games, but give us the option. Proprietary anything is such a drag these days, especially with supply chain constraints.

There are adapters out there to use labtop nvme ssd's I was just looking at them on eBay. Not sure if they are plug and play from that point? Prolly worth some digging.

Yeah I downloaded MS Flight Sim and that's like 200 GB with all the free DLC. Waiting for 2TB deals.

Ridiculous priced proprietary design. At least you can replace the built-in NVMe even though it's a lengthy process unlike Sony who unlike previous PS versions made it unreplaceable. Hope to see a third party option or adapter in the near future. Find it interesting the internal is WD and the expansion is Seagate.

I'm curious as to if this casing can be cracked like portable USB enclosures and another NVMe can be inserted that the Xbox recognizes.

2TB can be found on Ebay for as low as $345 (msrp $400). But even at that price, it's still rip-off pricing. I just installed a 4TB NVME in my PS5 for $550, so I'm holding off on my Xbox.

The 1TB expansion came out a year ago and the 2TB came out 6 months ago, so maybe around December? It's rumored that Seagate's storage is a timed exclusive, but Microsoft has not confirmed that. There is no hardware limitation to Microsoft opening up Xbox storage to other companies.

Ya but Sony also gives you a free slot to do with as you please. So one replaceable, one not, gives you the same net result as a device with only single nvme slot (which the Xbox has, unless I'm mistaken)

It's a CFexpress interface.

Uncommon interconnect? Perhaps. Proprietary? Not at all.

So the reality is even with the adapter you still need to buy a specific compatible ssd model which is not cheap. So it comes to around the same price with adapter. I will just wait for a sale on the 2tb like everyone else.

Knowing Microsoft? Never. They still got the balls to charge $400 for 2 TB. Seriously proprietary formats should've died like 10 years ago. Somebody needs to jerry rig this so we could use an M2 of our choice. Don't care if it's just dangling. Better than stupid prices.
