With Costco their price march policy is called return and buy again.
They really need to fix that, it's waste of everyone's time and money

Is this the best deal for the year?

I don't need it, but at some point this year I'd want a Mac
Let me put it for you this way (taking about new here no open box and such). This price is currently at 20% off. An apple employee can get one with employee discount at 25%. So yea I think this is pretty good. Now you could probably get it even cheaper but that's be couple years down the line.

I don't really care. I made the effort to ask them to match they won't do it. Told me to return. It's no skin off my back we go to Costco quite often.

I mean it's a waste for Costco too. Even if they're somehow passing the cost of restocking to the manufacturer their employees are still wasting time processing returns.

I meant if i upgrade Base M2 Air to 16GB/512 SSD it almost come to this price point hence the question . I read the build quality in Pro are better than Air and also the screen/audio etc
not if you purchase the air from the Apple edu site with the $150 Apple gc. 1479-150=1329 (assuming you value Apple gc as cash) making it $270 more for this 14" pro

curious what people think on this 14" pro vs the m2 MacBook Air 16g/512g? I'm deciding if it's worth the extra $270 to go to the 14"pro over the m2 air 16/512

Guess they only offer the discount to members.
The discount is not getting applied at checkout. Looks to be the site issue

Trust me it's way worth it.

For $270 your're getting double the ram and storage (with way faster ssd performance due to going from one 256gb chip to two), considerably better screen and audio, better build quality and useful ports. No contest for me.

rumor has it that later this year or early next year, there would be an m2 pro/max but it is still on 5nm rather than the rumored 3nm.

Better screen (mini led), speaker, active cooling at the cost of heavier and thicker vs thinner and lighter (worst screen and sound). The built quality is better on the Pro for sure. Really up to what you do with it. I went with M2, because I already have a Mac mini hooked up to a huge ass monitor.

Not double the Ram. In his post he already priced in the SSD and RAM at 512 and 16 respectively for the MacBook Air M2 (with education pricing come out to ~$1450 before tax).
