Paper sign at front of store. It was definitely store specific and not BBY company wide.
Thanks for info. I was curious since I might check out another Best Buy in my area, but I doubt they have it going on.

Check with your credit card you used. I believe discover will refund the difference for up to 90 days.

Jaw dropping deal, This is the lowest price ever.. how come price of this model is slashing down that deep? I actually never thought this can go down beyond 1700 ever but This price 1600 makes it no brainer over macbook air M2.
This was available last December at bestbuy for similar price ($1620). This time for wider audience. Reference: https://slickdeals.net/f/15489421-select-my-best-buy-credit-card-members-apple-14-macbook-pro-2021-model-1620-free-shipping

Do you do a lot of ProRes encoding?

I am debating between M1 Pro & M2 Air - evaluating extra $$ worth for M1 Pro - but did not want to lose that new media decoding engine as more 4k/8k content comes up over time. We spend once and hold onto the PC for several years.

So, more than encode, it is the high end, new decoding capabilities that is being touted by Apple here: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/20...abilities/.

Discover ended price protection back in 2018. Wells Fargo cards have it for up to 60 days however.

All these MacBook Pro 14" sales from BestBuy, Amazon, and Costco suggest maybe M2 Pro is right around the corner?
Yes. But it's rumored that the M2 Pro is going to be based on the same 5nm architecture as the M1/Pro so I wouldn't expect huge performance gains this generation; much like the rather minimal performance improvements going from M1 to M2.

Completed my migration to the 'new' open box I picked up today after returning the 'old' one I bought on the 13th. I was a little worried as the first one only had 4 battery cycles on it. Checked out the new one and it only has 5. Looks mint and for $250 less than I paid just 14 days ago!

If you can order the open box certified at $1473.99, you should!

That price is including the 5% back from the credit card. If you take 5% off this price it's actually 1519.05

So i picked up this model open box 3 power cicle. TBH im not impress by this display, isn't supposed to be crazy good?
Go to display settings and turn off automatic brightness setting and you'll gain about 20% more brightness. It doesn't look very impressive at first but If you put it side by side with an older macbook / laptop, you'll immediately see the difference. Insane viewing angles and contrast from all sides. Basically an iPad pro in laptop form

Ya was on the fence about keeping it(going to keep it). but this thing is fast and the black levels are pretty good for not being OLED. Had m1 mini base model and that thing was not for me. Sold it after 2 months at a loss. IMO 16gb ram is a must, 8gb doesn't cut it.

I don't even see the point of buying a MacBook anymore since Win10/11 is much better for productivity and gaming and Intel/AMD are putting out good numbers with Alder Lake and Ryzen. Hard pass on this-- keeping my old 2010 MBA Core2Duo just to say I have a Mac, and building a Zen 4 gamer next month.
If we're talking about a desktop machine, then, yes, I agree. As far as laptops go though, despite being expensive, it's hard to beat the MacBook for physical build quality, they tend to survive longer than most and tend to hold a resell value. Hard to find a single windows laptop that compares on those metrics.
