Productivity is very subjective. Old school .exes, you're better off with Windows, but if you're not living in the 90s, most things run in a browser these days.

No app should be able to crash a modern OS. If it can there is a fundamental problem that must be addressed by app and OS vendor.

Battlenet (that's the client) behavior won't change one iota if you download it via Safari rather than Firefox. The DMG file doesn't care how you download it; if the download is successful and the DMG mounts to allow you to copy Battlenet to your /Applications folder, that's all that matters.
Battlenet changes also shouldn't change or impact how Starcraft (Remastered) version crashes your machine, unless you missed an update / fix to Starcraft (Remastered) by, say, not using Battlenet (but then you'd not be able to open SC (R)). But that's something Blizzard would be able to help you with.
This all sounds like you are guessing at problems. I suggest you get past Apple first level support and find someone who can analyze the crash, if, in fact, the machine is actually crashing. Contrast that with the application crashing (which is something Blizzard would need to troubleshoot). Which is actually happening?
AppleCare is always a reasonable choice if you don't buy via Costco and with Costco's credit card. I did so, so I'm covered for four years, "free" (assuming I'd keep paying for Costco's membership anyway, which certainly isn't free.)

However, uninstalling and reinstalling appears to solve the lagginess when booting up SC and joining Battle.net. I haven't had a crash or reboot either since doing what he suggested.
I'm happy so far with the MBP aside from this issue.
I purchased it with Costco Citi credit card.. that's why I went this route vs. Best Buy.
There's loss and theft coverage.
And accidental spills or drops for Apple Care.
I believe that's a good investment to purchase AC. Similar to insurance. Thanks for the help!
I started a thread on the /MacBook subreddi [reddit.com]t, asking if any M1 Pro MacBook users were able to achieve spec'd 10gbps USB speeds. No joy. Several of us tested M1/M2 models against 2018-2019 MacBook Pro models: the Intel-based machines achieve 10gbps USB speeds consistently. Meanwhile, the M1/M2 Macbook models are consistently 20-50 percent slower.
My use-case is probably unique (USB transfer speeds are critical, as I transfer large video files 'in the field') but still, specs are specs. My workflow doesn't change and I get 20-50 percent better transfer speeds on every other machine I own (2018 MBP, 2020 PC Desktop, etc.) Thunderbolt docks can achieve the USB speeds at spec, but I can't find any bus-powered TB docks with USB-C ports (I don't have access to power outlets in the field.) Also, I am conflicted about spending another $200-$300 for a dock, after spending $1,700 on a MacBook Pro. Its USB 3.1 Gen2 ports should achieve real-world USB 3.1 Gen2 speeds of 10gbps, like every other (older, less powerful) machine that I use. IMO.

Alternatively, you could get 5% back from Best Buy via Discover PayPal ($1500 quarterly max) or US Bank Cash+ set to electronics purchases. I also have some BB offers from Amex, but YMMV.
