Solid saw for the non-pro. Will handle any DIY stuff you need, plus some less detailed woodworking. Good fence, rack and pinion works well, very solid stance once the legs are folded down. The big downside is the throat plate( the bit that surrounds the blade and sits flush with the table). It's much too flexible for any kind of detail work. Chances are you'll have to make a new zero clearance plate. Ideally from Phenolic material. While you're at it, make three. Thank me later. This will give you plates for various blade thicknesses (such as a Dado, or a miter cuts).

Unfortunately it looks like the OP deal for $299 is deader than disco, so no joy here.
