$279 at Menard's before 11% rebate. I got one a couple months ago when it was $299 and $267 after rebate. Now thru 12/6 is $248 after rebate.

This saw is generally well reviewed. Example at Protools Reviews [protoolreviews.com].

It can handle up to a 5/8" dado blade.

Note: Amazon price-matched: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F9RFJ2K?th=1&psc=1

Decent table saw deals have been super hard to come by recently, and I haven't seen this saw go below $298, myself. Also - but who knows if it was a blip - when I was ready to get one of these back in the summer, it was frequently OOS at the big box stores and Amazon.

Do you recommend it? It's either this Skil, or the 8-1/4" Dewalt that can't accept a Dado.

I am not an expert but this saw was reviewed very well by VCG Construction and Projects For All.

Also not an expert by any means but I haven't had any issues so far. Actually has a rack and pinion fence which is very good for this price range, parts/gears seem plastic but should hold up as long as you don't do anything weird while adjusting the fence. I've used a dado stack a couple of times to make ~3/8-1/2" slots in long pieces of 2x4s ripped in half using the same saw. I did change out the blades for diablos out of the box though.

Another key point for me was the legs included. Making a workbench/outfeed table that I'll just mount it on now but has been super handy so far.

I have this SKIL and, IMO, it punches above its price point. Dead square out of the box, table is good and flat, and the folding legs make it easy to store out of the way. Also love the rack and pinion fence, and the on-board tape measure was accurate within 1/32. My only gripe with it at the moment is that the included throat plate has a little too much give, so, if you're cutting narrow pieces, the plate flexes down and your cut isn't perfect anymore. Easily fixed with a zero-clearance insert made of MDF or plywood, though.

As for this vs. the DeWalt? Really depends on if you'll use it for dados and need the greater depth of cut offered by the 10" vs 8.75" blade. If you can get this from Menards for $248AR and will/can shop in their physical stores, I think this saw is a no brainer in that case and wouldn't hesitate to buy it over the DeWalt.

Agreed on the rack and pinion setup, that's what attracted me to this saw at such a low price point, and the built in legs. My old Skilsaw has served me extremely well for decades, but its fence setup was always wonky, and accuracy was always secondary at best. So its time for an upgrade. I'm not sure I'll ever Dado with it, but its nice to have the option I guess. What Diablo blade did you go with? Any tips on building that

Sounds like all the things I'm hoping for you are pointing out with it. I've been eyeing this saw since it was introduced but keep dragging my feet. The Dewalt dropped down to about $240 recently (Without stand) and I almost bit, but held out since this saw keeps catching my eye. I love the idea of the built in legs. My current Skilsaw has a separate metal base it sits on and while I appreciate having a base, its huge for storage.

I'm mostly a weekend warrior, DIY type guy. I sometimes take on rather big projects though, but I'd still only be spinning this thing up a few times a year. I can't justify the cost of the 10" Dewalt setup over $500, so I keep coming back to this saw. I have used the 8-1/4" Dewalt setup once a friend let me borrow and I have to say it was silky smooth and I really liked using it. The idea of this saw with the larger capacity and possibility to Dado if I ever need it though is nice, and again the built in legs seem like such a smart implementation.

Any tips on that replacement throat plate building, and what blade are you running in yours?

No Menards around so I'd be ordering at the $277 price point. I wish this was $199 somehow, but that's wishful thinking but I bet it eventually gets to that on sale. Do I bite the bullet and just buy it? Seems like feedback around the web and from you both say the saw is well worthy, and fine if I get this over the Dewalt. I think I'm pulling the trigger on this...

I just picked this up from Lowe's last week. My saw came with a metal throat plate out of the box, so Skil did a minor revision with the same model number I guess. Fantastic saw. It's my first, but my dad tried it extensively and he has decades of table saw use under his belt. He was very impressed.

Great deal for a DIY-er with limited space. The fold-up legs are super compact and nice for storage, while being stable enough.

This table saw definitely punches well above its weight class. Rack and pinion fence is awesome.

My only complaint with mine is that the fence isn't perfectly plum/square to the table surface.

Good to know, I hope this Walmart one ships with the metal throat plate too. Will report back tomorrow. Otherwise I will contact Skil requesting it as a replacement part

Instead of replying with multi-quote of almost every replies, I just post my comment on the saw here.
This saw is pretty nice. The rail design is very good. I only need to do some minor adjustment with the miter gauge. The plastic throat plate is my only complaint but it seems they may be replacing that. I got mine 2 months ago and it is still with the plastic plate.
I ordered the dado throat plate (also plastic) and used a 5/8" dado stack in it and that works very well. The space in the blade chamber is very tight that some 10" blade may not fit. I am using the Dewalt 10" blades and they fit well, while the cheap one from Harbor Freight is a tough too large. The dust collecting works well and you can simply point the hose adapter downward pointing at a bucket without using a vacuum system particular with a dado blade.

Purchased mine a few months back and so far it works great, as others as said square right out of the box. Did purchase some zero clearance plates as the plastic ones are junk, will look into the metal ones if they are available. I was able to fab a router table extension to mine utiling the existing fense.
