Who cares? The Switch is on its way to being the best selling console in history. Not this generation, history. So clearly people have decided that they don't give a rip about graphical prowess, and instead just want good games to play.
The GameCube was the most powerful console of its time. How'd that work out? Or how about the Xbox? Or the Dreamcast?
Nothing grinds my gears more than the "mUh GrApHicS" people. Most people don't know or care that their games run in 4k with a trillion polygons. Most people just want fun games, and Nintendo is the master of delivering that experience.
There's nothing wrong with critiquing graphics and processing power. I myself noticed several significant frame rate drops when playing Breath of the Wild and Pokemon. It's definitely noticeable, and there's nothing wrong with "Hey, the hardware may need to be upgraded" or "Maybe next generation they need to consider really bringing the processing power up to par". In my opinion, it's not the graphics per say as the games are pretty cartoon-ish, but when I'm dipping under 30 fps, that's a problem, and one worth bringing up. It doesn't matter how much a game sells or how incredible it is -- it's never free from criticism.
It's a 70 game because it's going to be one of the best games of all time with a great story, great gameplay, and great graphics, with wide appeal. Even now when I see BOTW I'm stunned at how beautiful it all is. The whole of it is worth more than the sum of its parts. In my opinion it has the best horse animations of any game ever. If any game is allowed to be 70 this game is allowed to be 70.
I remember how people were saying Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were going to be the best games of all time with a great story, great gameplay, great graphics and wide appeal. Didnt quite happen. Nintendo lost its magic touch a while ago. Its just retreads and rehashes on outdated hardware and lackluster graphics now. A big chunk of its library are just ports from Wii U.
I just can't imagine Nintendo go the VR route unless it becomes super popular in mainstream. They did have the virtual boy disaster back in the day lol. I really think it comes down too what is going to surprise and delight somebody. Exactly what Doug Bowser says. I think VR is cool and a Mario game could be quite fun and VR. I just don't think the price point is there yet to make sense for Nintendo. I think that is a possibility in the following generation. I think Nintendo personally wants to ride the wave of the switch even farther. They probably are quite scared of doing something radically different. But you never know you might be correct!
I still think it's going to be a wireless docking capability as the gimmick. That technically would allow people to not take their hands off the game whatsoever. It also could provide the possibility of even just two players having their own screen. Let alone five players. And there's definitely going to be some surprises.
The one thing I am quite positive on is that it's not going to be some crazy drastically more powerful device. I would probably say about 4X and only about double the ram instead of 4 on switch 8 on switch 2. And I really curious if they even use the term Switch. Last time they reused the term Wii did not work out for them. Back in the '90s parents were really pissed off that the NES could not play any of the new SNES games. I definitely think the Switch 2(or new name) will be backwards Compatible with Switch.
Well the Switch name still makes perfect sense for a future system that can also do VR besides being a handheld, tv console and rooftop party machine.

Well it's only $10 more than standard oled. Considering I mainly plan on playing on tv probably worth to buy the standard switch though right?
