I have an excellent income but don't consider a $2200 monitor an "option". Hope that more models and innovation drive costs down.

YMMV but there is a chance to get 10% discount using chat thus bringing this down to $1800 with $250 of Samsung credit.

Hard to justify spending $2k on a monitor when you know it will be $1k next year

As an OLED, I wouldn't be buying this display anyway if I was concerned about it maintaining a high value over a long period of time. Burn in is real. Not going to get a better picture any other way though.

There's a reason the warranty is only 12 months.

Looks nice but I couldn't imagine spending that much on a qd oled monitor that's likely to burn in. I'll stick with my c2 42" w/ 5yr best buy warranty under $1000.

I have the G9 Gen 1 version of this with 240hz. It has its use cases over my 4K but I only paid like 750 for it a few years ago. If I want OLED, I have another rig with a 48 inch C2. Best of both worlds and still cheaper 800 dollars cheaper than this single monitor.

I'd be weary of buying this from Samsung because of their issues with their $250 Samsung Credit. I bought the S95B 65" for $1249, and Samsung included a $200 Credit. The credit didn't work for months and multiple people disputed the credit by contacting their Credit Card companies and Samsung. Samsung refunded a ton of people. Samsung finally unlocked the Credit for everyone, and I bought an external 4TB SSD for my PS5. Hopefully Samsung doesn't limit the credit, and it works as soon as you receive it. Good luck!

This thing has all the makings of a nightmare scenario where you will likely be very disappointed with it.

First, it is QD OLED, so the panel has to run anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes of maintenance a day depending on the length of time you actually use it.

Second, if people are upset with the sub pixel layout for work or schooling use, they're not going to be any happier when the PPI is decreased.

Third, the idea of a dream 32:9 gaming session for most of the games on the planet will require the use of an app that edits the hex code of a game to get it to support that resolution. This is good and all, but it will likely get you banned from online multiplayer games.

Fourth, Samsung trying to turn these monitors into smart TVs that just have really bad software running them only makes the entire experience worse.

Finally, if it weighs anywhere near as much as previous G9 models, well you're going to end up sticking with the stand, or buying a much higher end monitor mount and head that will add $300 to the cost.

Personally, I would look at the C2 or Alienware 34" over this all day long, assuming you want OLED. Or I would just buy the Neo G9 as you're going to get most of the benefits with fewer issues.
