Yes and no. Not everyone needs a 2TB to get a better cost per MB. I think, for a quality SSD like this at $37, it's an awesome deal. You might find some Chinese SSD cheaper, but for reliability, name brand, and good warranty, this is hard to beat.

In 4 months, BF deals might be better, but one can wait forever!

EDIT: If you don't like Newegg, Amazon [a.co] is has it (through Microcenter) for $39.99 with free overnight shipping for Prime people (at least for me). You need to click "See All Buying Options" button on the right and look for $39.99 New from Microcenter.

I don't know why you're comparing both. They're in different tiers. Why would you ever compare Lambo to Corolla lmao

for 2TB: SN850X ATL is $90 vs $70 for 670p
$20 is a 30% bump in price

for 1TB: $37 vs $55, $18 diff is 50% price bump

the % differences are so big you really have to justify the upgrade. Is this a high performance gaming machine w/ gen4? Sure, sn850x. Low powered Celeron minipc with only gen3 support or for use in an external SSD enclosure? Hard to beat this.

If I'm planning to use SSD for external storage only, is this sufficient even though it doesn't have DRAM or something else I should be looking at?
The 670p has DRAM. NVMes speeds are dependent on your motherboard specs and USB or Empty Slots so you'll have to look at your motherboard specs to get your answer. If the fastest port speeds on your motherboard are lower than the Max speed of the NVMe (such as 10 GB/s for example) than there's no point in getting a faster NVMe unless your trying to future proof or you get a faster/better NVMe for the same price or a few bucks more.

don't get me wrong.. i'm waiting to buy some 670p (prob two 2TB when they inevitably hit $50).. but this isn't a deal.. no idea why it's getting attraction lmao. ig they're just trying to get as many suckers to buy now as they can.
like ppl have said, there are better deals when you consider all the specs.
Exactly. Why do some of these higher priced, lower end drives keep making it to front page?

Wowzers 😳... This discount is at least half the price of what this usually goes on sale for.

Right? I have no idea what people here are seeing that is lower prices for a 1TB NVMe SSD that makes this such a terrible deal.

Link to lower price for an equivalent 1TB drive or shut up.

Unfortunately one brand on the list is banned on SD so Instead I'll leave with you with the Team Group MP44L/MP34. Now everyone pack it up and migrate to a better deal because there's nothing to see here since this ain't a good deal.

Amazon also matched the price - actually beat it by a few cents:
$36.33 -
Link showed "Sold by Computer Upgrade King. Used: Like New". Seller Microcenter has new one at $39.99.

Interesting! When I did the search it didn't show that it is "like new".
Oh well - at least the "new" is also $39.99 - but at least sold via Amazon (and not Newegg).

Bought the 512 back in the spring for $30. Wasn't on sale, just needed a new drive because my five year old one was showing signs of wear and I wanted it replaced ASAP.

$7 more for twice the capacity just a few months later sure feels like a deal to me.

How is your $47.99 a better deal than this Intel $36.99 SSD?

Also great review on the 670p:
https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...ssd-review

"Intel's SSD 670p delivers on both speed and security with faster throughput and hardware encryption support. While Intel's SSD 670p leverages QLC flash, it is tweaked and tuned where it matters, making it a stellar consumer-oriented PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD."

How does a SSD show a sign of wear? Honest question.
