If you have ever thought about playing D&D, but have no idea where to start or want to introduce someone to D&D lite, this is your game.
Great way to see if you want to commit to regular Gloomhaven. Jaws of the Lion is the essentially the prequel with less scenarios and more streamlined mechanics. Our run through it took us about 50 hours to complete.

This game is tedious. Lots of accounting work. Not for the casual board game enthusiast.

Did you exhaust all of the scenarios in that 50 hours? Like, would it be fresh enough to play again?

This game is great. After seeing how long it takes to setup, I don't think I'd want to try a full fledged Gloomhaven game.

Regardless, $.50/hr of content seems pretty reasonable …

The Target in my city doesn't have this in stock.

I just checked Walmart.com and the price went up! $36.95

Other than building the map out of tiles, it is about the same setup per session. And you can work on the rooms after the first tile while playing so even that isn't so bad.

After playing many hours and trying to figure this game out, I would suggest buying the PC version and playing that. Playing this board game felt like working a job with all the tedious modifiers and rules. The PC version takes all the work out of it and you just play.

Not all of them since you have to make decisions that block other scenarios and other scenarios are dependent on which characters are in your party. So you could play it again to try and see the others.

I've always wondered that about this game and others like it. It just seems like the amount of work involved would make it not fun as a board game. Thanks for confirming my suspicion.
