Note that this is a slightly simplified version of the original Gloomhaven but you won't loose much in gameplay and it's quite excellent.
It's kinda like a video game, in that you learn the rules as you play the first few scenarios and then you'll be well-primed for the OG Gloomhaven.
There are apps to help keep track of points and items and whatnot but I recommend holding off on that until you get the hang of it and THEN decide if you wanna use the app. I've decided not to use it, as part of the game is the sheer vastness of all of the items.
We find the Melodice soundtrack made for this to be awesome to play with. It really helps to get into the game.
If you have someone to play with consistently, you really can't beat this deal. It's EASILY the best game we've ever played.

What's the replayability for the game? Like if I played with my wife, could we play again with our normal tabletop group once we get back together?

It's a stellar single player game too for those like me who don't have friends who want to dive into a game like this.

Some event cards say to discard them once read but it shouldn't matter much if you shuffle them back in or just keep going from where you left off. They are a pretty minor part of the game. Usually just some gold or fame/infamy and the like.

The biggest difference will probably be the higher difficulty due to having more characters. And you'll probably want to choose a different character from who you played the first time.
I have a solo campaign going on and a campaign with my brother using different characters. They've been pretty distinct experiences so far in terms of strategy. The campaign with my bro has been sort of difficult since our roles (Red Guard and Hatchet) don't really mesh well. On solo, I'm using the Demolitionist and Voidwarden and it's been relatively easier since I have a sort of paladin and a sort of healer to balance things out.
