Includes DIRAC LIVE room correction!

Here's the best guide I've come across on how to use Dirac:

https://youtu.be/gjWZUZ1MeDg?si=ekB0wuiKmpx9sdTW

And Dirac Live does manage bass. According to Dirac Support:
"Yes, standard Dirac Live has always corrected the subwoofer response, taking advantage of the AVR's Bass Management."

PERFECT farkING TIMING! Was about to buy used earlier. Thanks OP!
Perfect timing is right. I've been piecing together my home theater and needed a solid 9.2 receiver. Was contemplating this vs the RZ50. For my purposes the RZ50 is overkill and the 7100 is much less in price. Thanks OP! Purchased!

That is not accurate.
You do not manually set crossovers when running Dirac...

You need to let it know what set up you have..ie...speakers

Here is a helpful video, look around 2:50 mark.

https://youtu.be/gjWZUZ1MeDg?si=k3KkWrM1FLv3e5vQ

Here is Dirac's user manual & look at page 32, gives a description of what each of their RCs offer/do.

"Dirac Live: The filter design page is presented without Bass Control features and filters are calculated without any form of bass management.
Bass Management: Dirac Live filters are designed such that each subwoofer in the arrangement contributes equally to matching the drawn target curve. A system with 1 subwoofer will adjust this subwoofer so that it matches the curve, while a system with 2 or more subwoofers will scale the volume (or gain) of each subwoofer so that they collectively add up to provide the drawn response. However, it will not consider any destructive interference between the speakers.
Bass Control: Dirac Live filters harmonize the subwoofers and non-subwoofer speakers in the lower frequencies using tailor-made phase filters, delays, and gains."

I'm in a house and still haven't hidden my speaker wires for my current 7.2.4 living room setup and when I saw that Slickdeal for $700 for Q990C I decided to try it due to the overwhelming good reviews from people I respect in the field and it's true what they are saying, I guess in the right setup. It really is not on par with my Klipsch setup but it comes really close, a little artifical surround sound sometimes, which is not a bad thing, but I know some people don't like that. I think in a smaller apartment setup it would really shine as I have a medium size living room with slightly vaulted ceilings and the Atmos and wide surround sounds are really strong. Not sure what voodoo Samsung is using on this one as usually their past and lower priced soundbars are crap.

I'm still an AVR setup kinda person and have recommended so in the past to family and friends, but with these better soundbars on the market now, recommend my not so involved audio friends and family these better soundbars. Cut down my involvement significantly with helping them setup or maintain their little home theater systems.
That Soundbar is now at $462 for Samsung EPP members. I am almost tempted to buy it for my bedroom. On second thought, I will just keep my current sound bar with rear speakers in the bedroom. My bedroom is much too large to do without rear speakers and the semi vaulted ceilings are pretty high .

No, that's the 900C, not the 990C. 900 is the lower model with no surrounds and inferior sound. Not sure of the quality but Samsung soundbars vary in quality vastly so I will check reviews on that one first before jumping on it.

Currently using a Onkyo TX-NR6050 and love it. Will be adding this to expand to a 5.1.4 system and hopefully this unit is close to RZ-50.

Hello, I grabbed the Denon S760h at Costco last month. Coming from Sony STR-DN1080 I feel huge performance bump in Surround sound as well as improved audio from fronts Klipsch R625FA. Though the sound quality is much better it is not an 'upgrade' for future proofing. Torn between the idea of going for Onkyo NR1700 for extra 200 (or) just retain S760h as I don't see any negatives in it. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

How many speakers do you have? Return the Denon and get the Onkyo NR7100 for Dirac Live and the increased power. I'm returning my NR6050 as well.

Here is my take. It mainly depends on what the upgrade is for & want to accomplish.

If it's to upgrade your sound quality, your speakers are thee biggest influencers with that imo.
So if any of your current speakers are "to hold you over" until you "fill in the blank".
I would concentrate on the fill in the blank 1st.
Contrary to popular belief, the quality of every speaker matters with HT imo.

Too often people sacrifice quality to include "Atmos".
The quality of your core speakers plays a big role on Atmos, build a good one 1st before upgrading to it imo.

If it's for features, just remember this tech changes quickly.
You may find you want that new tech that's out by the time you use the one you already paid for and end up buying a newer receiver.

I suggest you read many of the Dirac forums on AVS from people who have owned the products for many years as well as published AV professionals and understand that you do not change crossovers in your main speakers.

There is actually an extensive dedicated portion for this specific prod, with actual owners, that dates back to 2021 when it was introduced...with 500 pages of posts

Why, I have personal experience with all their RCs.
I agree with Dirac, Dirac Live does not include any Bass Control or Bass Management.

As the AV professional Audio Advice suggested, set your crossovers in the processor.
I agree with them also.

I dont know how much experience you have with Dirac in personal ownership.
I know from products that I owned, for a period of years, that there are nuances( and some basics) in the set up that vary by brand.
There are literally hundreds of owners who have set up and own this product in the AVS forum thread .
The set up as well as tips and tricks specific to this model are outlined in copious detail

https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...3/#replies

IMO..that is by far the best resource for the product in this thread

IMO there is no better resource for a Dirac product than Dirac themselves.

Having many personal experiences with many different brands that offer some form of Dirac including this one.
I can tell you unequivocally, that quote I provided from Dirac's user manual is universal & definitive!

If you want to believe Dirac is wrong & there is a better resource, that is completely your prerogative, no debate there.
