If you're not going to go to 11.2 or switch to speakers requiring an external amp this is an excellent buy ♥️ If there's a chance of you doing either of these things in the next 3-5yrs I'd advise considering the big brother the RZ50 (open box is currently 1100 with full rz warranty, and it has been reported as low as 990 recently on here.) As it includes 11.2 outs and a bit more power. But that's the better part of 50% more currently. So this is arguably a much better deal if you don't need that explicit future proofing. Great find

Edit: open box I'm thinking of: https://www.safeandsoundhq.com/pr...8079330415

DIRAC Live is awesome. That's enough reason to buy this over competitors.

Lowest for a new NR7100 ive seen but keep in mind the sister receiver, LX305 has one more year of warranty. At this price its a moot point. Might get this and sell one of my 6050s and old 3300W

I recently picked up an open-box Pioneer VSX-LX 305 for about the same price. I'm still in BBs return window until the 21st. Dirac Live is amazing. The only difference I see is the adjustable X-overs but the Pioneer has a little better warranty.
Any reason to replace it with this?
TIA

Unless you need a component input or THX certification, no. The 7100 is basically the non-elite version of the 305.

I guess the only intriguing feature of the Onkyo is the adjustable X-overs. I use KEF Q350s for my mains and a Q650C for the center.

Something for people to think about considering future proofing.

Much can change in 3-5 years especially with technology, example of recent was 2.0 vs 2.1.

Pioneer & Onkyo does not include Dirac's bass management and very unlikely to be an add on in the future(to current models).
ART is another future example, that likely won't be an option at this level anyways but who knows.

I agree, if you prefer Onkyo & after Dirac this is a pretty good deal.

Nice deal on a 9.2 receiver

Clearly the motivation to buy is Dirac live, that most people seem to think is head and shoulders above anything else anywhere near this price point..

Is it good for home theater? What else should I buy with receiver to set up 7.2 surround sound? Any recommendations for Speakers?

This AVR is very good for a home theater. You are better off with efficient speakers like Klipsch since it only have 100w/ch spec. It does have preouts so you could add more amp if needed.

Can you link some Klipsch speakers for me, thanks?

If a 7.2 setup is the max you want with no interest in expanding in the future I'd save some $ and go with a 7.2 reciever. Put that savings into the speakers. Check these out, even the refurbs are great deals considering they are mostly returns and manufacturer refurbs

the wpc rating is 2 channel use only. when running ALL channels the output is about 50-70% of that.
