These Dock Demons are awesome for kayak fishing - much easier to keep from getting tangled up in trees when the rod is this short, and the rod will bend double and not break! If nothing else, take the reel that comes with it, donate it to Goodwill or somewhere like that, and put a better reel on it. A Zebco 33 works great on these rods, and one thing I've done lately is buy older Johnson Citation or Century reels on ebay or from Marketplace/yard sales. If you can get one that works well for $10 or so, rebuild it using a YouTube video for reference (easy to do - just take it apart and regrease the gears). You will have a reel that may outlast you!
The "slingshot" model isn't allowed to ship to CA and I think I just realized why… Amazon seems to think this is literally a slingshot and there are apparently very strict regulations against those here
😂
These are always $10 at WM. I just bought one for my 4yo.
Speaking of 4yo's, these are way better for kids than the cartoon rods that cost more. Get one of these, instead, and it will last them until they're big enough for a more reasonably sized rod.
These are also decent to toss in the trunk if you want to be prepared to fish on a whim. They don't take up a ton of space, the tip probably won't break from sliding around, and they work great for panfish, smaller bass or catfish.

This 33 Micro Spincast[amazon.com] is actually made with the mount on TOP of it, so it's technically more of a spinning reel. You could put it on this Dock Demon rod[walmart.com] or this Dock Runner rod[walmart.com] because their reels mounts are located on the top. I have a couple of these Dock Runners and they're a little bit longer, which give you more whip to get a lure out farther.
Thank You For All That,
Meant to get back to you sooner. I have now been down QUITE the rabbit hole. LOL.
Think I am going to start of with the Max. Something I can "supertune"(?), and be able get my big ol' paws in there.
Again I appreciate you so much. Rep'd.https://i.slickdeals.net/images/smil...ot-worship.gif

That's awesome! I have never had a Max, and I bet it'll be great to use. This guy's videos on YouTube[youtube.com] have been very helpful to me in tuning and rebuilding reels, and maybe it'll help you get that Max working great!
Got one of these as a gift for my 2yo… immediately put a $6 reel (with line!) from bass pro on because the reel was brutal. I will say - perfect size for a little kid, but casting is 10x harder than a normal length rod because you don't get the fling part of the cast.

Yep,
Already had found him. SUPER-DUPER helpful guy. I've got an order for extra bearings and all that ready to go.

It would suck living in a state where the government is basically an over-bearing helicopter soccer mom.

Tried the dock demon. Had one a few years ago and I was expecting to replace the reel in a few months.
Forget that, thing wouldn't cast, took it apart, disengaged the pickup pin, casts. Then it wouldn't reel. Something in the gears or spring? Returned. I knew it would be junk, but 100% non functioning was a new low.
