Quick tidbit on this monitor. Using it right now and it's freaking awesome...but it's buggy and prone to failure. Google search 'G95SC black screen'. Samsung came out and replaced the entire screen after it just went 'black' after 8 months of usage. Even after the replacement, when gaming it still goes to a black screen once in a while and needs to be turned off/on when playing games. And yes, I've tried different Display Port and HDMI cables, firmware, nvidia drivers, etc.

Are you able to go to the home screen and scroll through menus when it happens?
I feel like I've tried that as a troubleshooting step when it first started happening but I'm not certain. I'll try tonight when it happens again.

I have this as well. You don't need to unplug the computer. Usually I restart the gpu. Press crtl+shift+windows+b at the same time wait 5 secs and it should pop back up. It's annoying that it happens after I close every game. It started about a month ago and I've had it since launch. I love it for work and video games still. Best monitor I have ever had running a 3090 for those curious.
It wouldn't be so bad if it was only afterward, but mine does it in the middle of gaming. Will try the key combination and see if that alleviates some of the annoyance.

I never knew you could reset the gpu like that. It has been a long time since I built a machine. Embarrassed to say, but the last machine I built was a pentium 3 😂😂

Never had OLED and don't know if they didn't have this set up correctly but when I saw this monitor the other day at BestBuy text quality was just abhorrent...

Anyone have direct experience between this and the 57"?

I have the 57" now but I don't like the matte finish or intrusive stand. I can't run fun resolution without upgrading PC, so that doesn't really matter. Plus I wouldn't mind the size reduction, it would be great to have available/affordable mounts!
I have used both and I would say the 57" reigns supreme for me for a few reasons:

1: The 1800R of the OLED is just not enough curve. It looks and feels almost flat, and I had to tilt my head a bit, it just didn't feel right. The 1000R of the 57 is just so much nicer.

2: With screens this big the 4K of the 57 is just so crisp that the 49 OLED just feels a bit fuzzy by comparison, not to mention OLED (even the newer pixel layout) in general won't be as sharp as mini-led / VA.

3: For me the size is just nice. I like a taller profile and this feels not too squatty. The OLED just feels really short and if you already used the 57 you won't even feel like it's smaller width wise just squatty.

4: I know there is the whole OLED vs MiniLED / VA discussion. I changed some settings and have virtually no blooming, I get better brightness if I need it, but obviously you're trading perfect blacks and better contrast, but again you don't have to worry about burn-in. Gaming on this thing is amazing but to be honest productivity is just better too because of the vertical real estate. Now I cannot do 240 on it but most games play fine and you can change to 21:9 if you want, of course I am also getting a 5090 when available and honestly if you're not trying to use the best PC hardware gaming at 1440p will give you better frames, so it also depends on your use case. If gaming is king for you I would actually recommend the 45" Ultragear over the 49" G9 OLED anyways because 45" at 21:9 with an 800R games so much better than 49" squatty at 32:9

Anyways, just my opinion but I stuck with the 57 and do not regret it for one second.

Does the oled g9 have gsync? I thought it was only amd freesync premium. I thought it was the g9 neo that has gsync. *edit. It does. That's really nice

Hard to decide between this and 57"...
I do think the vertical space will be huge for coding

I have the same issue. Sometimes while gaming, the screen will turn completely black. Have not had it happen when not gaming but then again I mainly game and don't browse the web or watch videos all that much. Maybe just luck it only happens while gaming. Sometimes the picture will come back and sometimes not. When it happens I will try to turnoff the monitor and turning back on but nothing. However when I press home it will be normal and I can scroll through the menus but will go back to black when I select pc display port. I have tried using the other dp ports on the card with no changes but have not tried hdmi yet. If it does not recover I just hit reset on the pc and it's back to normal after restart. Not really sure what the issue is. I'm running a 4080 super fe with the latest drivers with asus z790-h and 14900k.
If it gets resolved by restarting your PC then the next time it happens, see if it's resolved by keeping your PC untouched and just disconnecting the DP cable for about how long it takes for your PC to do a restart, then reconnect it. If this doesn't fix it, it means the issue is with your PC, possibly graphics card or drivers.

Just happened to me again a few minutes ago. I was able to resolve it using the method mentioned earlier by restarting the gpu. Just held down Win+Ctrl+Shift+B

It does, but no active module. Also it's one of the culprits for the screen issues.

Works great over hdmi with vrr and gsync off. DP and those options tend to cause the most issues with this model.

I just wish there was a way to force games to run in 21:9 since it's more readily supported than 32:9 for demanding titles. Only options are 16:9 or 32:9 unless you run windowed mode which is wonky if not full screened borderless.

I have similiar issues (bought in feb) So using the DP causes the issue for me (tried both stock and good quality aftermarket for longer length). Recently I've tried the HDMI and I have not had any issues per say.

I called up Samsung about this issue and a tech is supposed to come by in a few days. Has anyone gone through the warranty? if so, are there any suggestions at all? For instance, I am NOT leaving the tech alone with the monitor. If anyone saw that video with the tech using a box cutter to damaged a guy's Samsung TV to void warranty, you know what I mean.

As for the issue, I had ones where the monitor wont wake up from sleep correctly. If I alt tab out of a fullscreen game, the screen is black even though the PC is running.

I realized that the issue arises when I use the Game mode with 240 hz. When the refersh rate is lowered to 120, no issues. Not sure if I should just request a warranty replacement if this is a firmware issue.

I tried both this model and the other version that doesn't have any of the tv functions. Both had problems. With the G95SC my screen would go black for a few seconds when using HDMI while gaming. Tried Display Port and when swapping to HDR the screen would cut out multiple times. With the G93SC the VESA mounting bracket didn't fit correctly. When using HDMI the monitor wouldn't wake from sleep sometimes and required a complete restart of my computer. I ended up returning them.

Both also get pretty hot. If you put your hands on certain areas (like the bottom of the monitor) there are some pretty warm spots. You could definitely feel the heat coming off this thing. I have a few bigger OLED tvs and even monitors and none come close to being as hot. I'd hate to be using this thing during the summer time. It's a shame because it is very immersive and has a nice picture.

Can I use this with an average work laptop (Dell)? Will it be able to drive the display?

I have 2 of these monitors stacked for a work/gaming setup at my shop. And a 34" G8 oled 240hz for a home gaming setup. Love the resolution on the 49", colors are amazing and I really enjoy all the connectivity and smart features they have. Running them with a 3090 ti. Sometimes it is buggy random black screen flashes, had to get a 2.1 HDMI for a more stable user experience. For the price they are definitely worth it.
