I would give edge towards Milwaukee for quality and edge to Ridgid for cost bc their tools can be had for super cheap on DTO website or HD Clearance.
As far as performance, either brand will likely get the job done.

I'm just trying to see what makes a person pick the heavier, less powerful, more expensive M12 with a worse warranty over the ridgid subcompact. If a person is already in the M12 ecosystem, makes perfect sense to get the M12 drill/driver. But if a person doesn't have any M12 or ridgid products already, is there any reason to go with the M12? I need to buy a drill, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something.
