I don't use the driver much, not least because it's quite heavy for what's basically a power screwdriver. Also the drill is pretty slow compared to wired options, so while it's fine for wood it's not so good for harder materials. I assume this is why these are cheap and the chubby is $250.

New gen (3) is snappier and has lot more power

Any reason to get this over the Ridgid subcompact brushless 18V set? The Ridgid drill is lighter (2.0 vs 2.6 lbs) and has more torque (500 vs 400 lb-ft). Same thing on the impact driver (1.72 vs 2 lbs, 1850 vs 1500 lb-ft). The M12 drill has the hammer function...other than that, any reason to consider Milwaukee's M12 fuel line over Ridgid's 18V subcompact line?

Ridgid also has the lifetime warranty. I still grab my M12 impact more than any other tool and I own 80% of the 18v brands. The Makita 18v impact is a close 2nd.

Great deal! I have this same set. Keep both batteries, it's worth it. These can handle almost any job like my 20v dewalt drills. I like the ergonomics of the Milwaukee 12v tools and then the dewalt 20v drills. The grips are similar in shape.

I think 12V lines have every chance of going extinct in the near future with such technological development

Do you have a ridgid 18v subcompact? If so, what makes you reach for the M12 over it?
I'm just trying to see what makes a person pick the heavier, less powerful, more expensive M12 with a worse warranty over the ridgid subcompact. If a person is already in the M12 ecosystem, makes perfect sense to get the M12 drill/driver. But if a person doesn't have any M12 or ridgid products already, is there any reason to go with the M12? I need to buy a drill, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something.
