It's back. People have had different experiences, but the back of the package states the credit is given the 2nd month, plenty of people (myself included) got the credit almost immediately.

Various issues with getting a credit/debit card to actually get through the activation for some people, and others who have signed up and ported out right after also seem to have been blacklisted, so ymmv on getting it to work.

You have to pay tax each month. Referral credit doesn't stack (unless you get lucky?).

Got this deal a couple months ago and just cancelled last night. It's important to note that the billing is "postpaid" in that, despite having the $30 credit apply right from the start, nothing was charged until the end of the first month, and as noted, tax is charged on top of whatever plan. So while you might think you can get 2 months of the Flex plan (Unlimited talk/text + 1GB or less) for $15/month, in reality after the first month you'll get charged around $17, leaving around $13 in credit. This would mean that at the end of 2 months they'd charge a few dollars to my card on file.

Also, there is no way to cancel without contacting customer service. Anticipating a $4-$5 charge for a service I barely used, I called to cancel well in advance of the end of the 2nd month expecting a reduced charge. As it was, it seemed I was still expected to pay the full amount that would be due, however I pointed out I was cancelling early and that I should be prorated, and the CS rep took care of it (I think by just giving me another $5 credit).

When calling CS, there was no automated system to hold: it just rang a dozen times, and then someone picked up. Quite strange. There is online chat, but when I tried that it was taking way too long to speak to an agent so I abandoned it.

In short, if you do this deal, I would only attempt to get 1 month of service from it using the free credit and be prepared to call to cancel before the 2nd month begins.

Do you have to add your credit card to start the 1 month free service?

Yes, you have to add a credit card to activate since Ting is a "postpaid" service. Getting your credit card accepted by Ting's card validation system is a HUGE YMMV.
Unless you really want Ting service, I would say skip this deal to avoid the grief. Ting would still bill you even after you port out.

I have 3 SIM cards from the previous deal that I won't even bother to activate.

i know the credit card issue happens to a lot of people but I think as long as you use a true credit card with a balance, it should run fine. I've even used a visa gift card and it is fine. It did fail a american express gift card with zero balance on it however. i think just for activation, it submits a pending $1 charge that will drop.

That's not correct. We used over 9 genuine credit cards each with over $10K in available balance and they still failed. This has happened to 3 family members. In fact, 2 of them have never had Ting service before so there is no issue of being previously blacklisted.

Not really a Ting defender here, but ...

They advertise themselves as "postpaid", so you can have accrued charges before you port out that come due at the end of your billing period (similar to other postpaid services).

So does ting use both Verizon and tmobile towers? I mean can someone use either compatible device to activate service as there are 2 Sims in the package?

Can you please let me know if one can activate several of these with the same credir card? Not necessarily consecutive - I want new number with everu kit, but I want to use the same credit card. Would that work?

Did you buy only one card?

Why do this when you can get a $50 credit for signing up through offers via search engine results? I am guessing they are not combinable but if they are that would be awesome. Try searching Bing. I have a $50 banner ad

Seems there is a cashback with SD extension for this.
What does it look like can anyone give an idea?
