I haven't been impressed by BF/CM for many years now. It always seem to be gimmick sales on no name products just to get you in the door/click on their website.
bought ipad two weeks ago, their accidental protection plan is $100 for 2 year. much better than applecare.
wish i had bought my first ipad through them.
and they never hard-sell the service plan. always polite and no attitude if u decline their offer.
Yeah, otherwise they can't give you the hard sell on the service plan. I always feel bad when I decline it. The poor kids trying to sell it act like I just killed their dog when I pass on it.

The 5 5600x is slightly better than the 5 5600g. Similarly, the 7 5800X is slightly better than the 7 5700G. In practice, though, you won't experience the difference. Because discrete GPU prices are insane, its far better to get an AMD apu with integrated graphics like the 5600G here.
exactly, u can't even buy a half-decent video card for $220.

I am also on a 1700X and decided to pull the trigger on this when I got an open box for $175, and a BX550 motherboard for $71 open box and with a $20 discount for buying them both together it was a good deal at MC. This only has 16 MB of L3 cache, but I think that only affects a handful of games that rely heavily on the L3 cache such as Valorant. But in most workloads it's usually within roughly 10% or so of the 5600X, and IMHO it should be quite a significant upgrade from the 1700X. Good luck!
I was also on a 1700X, MC had a sale on 3700X last summer, and I only have an X370, so went with that. Building another system, on the fence between this or just wait a bit for 5600X to drop... like your input!

This 5600g is not even on the same level as a 5600. It just has the same numbers. It's a gimped chip with an integrated gpu that can do 720 gaming.
Got an open box 5600g for $175 at MC. This was perfect for a build I did for my girlfriend who doesn't game on PC. Got $20 off an ASUS B550 motherboard too for a very cost effective build. Just depends what you need and even at $229, this is a great deal for a CPU with integrated graphics. Also, once bizarro supply chain world comes to an end, there's lots of upgrade headroom.

Hoping to sneak this question in:

I have an old low profile case with a ~200w power supply that I would love to repurpose for streaming and general usage. I don't play any games, ever. Would this CPU + MB with a SSD and 8Gb of ram work with 200W?

Edit: After a little more research, 300W is recommended for this setup. It turns out a flex ATX powersupply at 300W is not that expensive. So I may do it...
I think you'd be fine. My girlfriend's setup pulls 50-100w at the wall WITH a 27in monitor.

Agreed, BF has matured into a bait and switch or smoke and mirrors on all sorts of products. You can still find a gem in the sales but you'll end up paying more for other components which ultimately kinda kills all the effort
Actual sales are in the first two weeks of Nov. Everything just shifts earlier and earlier (like decorations and candy).

To normies the prices posted in BF Ads are "cheap". A lot of people pay full price on stuff typically.

To slickdeals, its normal sales with misleading twist. Internet shopping has changed perception
Maybe, but 95% of stuff available on BF/CM ends up cheaper between then and 12/24. Only problem would be in-stock/shipping this year.

Idk why this is downvoted, it's accurate. GooG6695 was incorrect to say there is no drawback to using this if you intend to use dedicated gpu.

It's not just the same cpu plus integrates graphics, it's legit a different cpu that takes a hit vs the 5600x for the combined function. You're literally getting less cpu. Important to consider your intended use before deciding this is a good deal for you.
Of course it's not the same CPU plus integrated graphics but my point was that there's nothing wrong with this CPU either. Unsurprisingly it has lower performance than a more expensive CPU. To act like it's completely useless to anyone with a GPU is incorrect as it performs very well for it's price range in benchmarks, regardless of the integrated graphics.

I will say it again, there are no real drawbacks to using this CPU with a dedicated GPU (for it's price). If you want more performance, you will pay more.

Yeah it's still a decent cpu, and pretty similar for most usage. I took your comment to mean there was no drawback (i.e. performance hit) in using this over the 5600x when it can be a 10% or more diff in performance in some gaming.

It is a good value at this price, a good cpu, and a good option for people who don't have a gpu and are willing to wait for one, though I'd probably just wait on both if that that were the case.

I would add though that comparing sale price to reg price isn't the best comparison of value. The 5600x was $269 for several weeks and only recently got back up to $299.

I bought this a few days ago for $220 and used it to upgrade my Ryzen 7 2700. It's about 25-35% boost on my/after benchmarks. Y'all call me crazy but I have a Vega 56 graphics card and still did it. No regrets.

I'll sell the 2700 for $180ish and make this a 30% boost for about 50 bucks.

Sure I could have got another 15% by spending another $70 on the 5600x but the cost/benefit just didn't seem worth it.

I also have a Vega 56 and will be selling it since I do not use it now. The only problem is that I have Ryzen 5 3600, thus need to upgrade to integrated GPU.

No PCIE "4" support for these CPU's if that matters to you.

Every single Ryzen CPU is going to see huge price slash across the board and you can thank Intel Adler Lake pricing for that.

If I'm still on a 1700x should I upgrade to this for productivity? VMs, programming etc.

Or should I stick to a 5800/5900? I don't game anymore and was thinking this APU could let me offload my gpu.
Wait till BF. Adler Lake should put pressure on AMD to slash their price by at least $100-$200 across the board.
