For those saying go Alderlake, if we already have an AM4 platform, we'd have to sell our MOBOs (and probably for a loss),then, go get an Alder Lake compatible MOBO with the new Alderlake chips.

i dunno why the 5600x isn't going down in price as much. it's a great chip, sure, but alder lake is actually a great competition and a better value proposition at this point.

Idk LGA 1700 mobos are more expensive on average than an am4 and not all 12th gen Intel CPUs come with a cooler (12400 does, but I believe the rest don't, at least at Microcenter). If you are gonna use the stock cooler, it kind of cuts into the price difference for the CPU.

They had a 3050 launch yesterday for $250 a card. Shoulda gone

But either way they got the 5600G for $200 which wouldn't quite get you to the graphics of that card but can provide light/indie gaming until you find a card. Probably will run Death's Door etc

I did multiple times within 30 days. I wished amazon kept prime matching as used to be in the past

I remember bought samsung 46" from amazon. And they accepted primematch. Hmmm itwas 10 years ago🤣

The ideal prices for the 5000 series should be: 5600x - 220, 5800×- 250, 5900 -350, 5950- 400. Even though these chips are over a year old, remember, this beat both the 10th and 11th gen intel chips. When 3d-v chips come out, prices might drop a bit, but nvidia, amd and intel know pc gaming is at an all time high.

unfortunately I don't have a microcenter near me. It seems video cards are still impossible to find and from what I've read, the 3050's were out of stock immediately just like everything else. I have a gtx 1060 6GB that I guess I could continue using. So I'd just need a CPU, Mobo, and maybe CPU cooler... probably around $400 for the pair?

And from what I've experience firsthand time and time again your "immediately" is anyone who showed up before 10am (when the store opened at 9) got one. And could go back in line for a 3080 too.

But most people prefer to stay home and complain online rather than go out in the cold to the store

Thanks for the info but I just tried that and it is out of stock and they are no longer letting people sign up for notify queue. Personally I don't have the time to run around to different physical stores hoping to find one. I have a job and two kids so that makes it difficult lol. If you have other suggestions for finding a card online then please share

This guys lol. Hey. I have both Intel and AMD systems. AMD was so great for years.
But it's Intel time for this year until a new AMD CPU comes out at the end of this year or next year. We don't know AMD can beat Intel again yet. But for now? Intel is the best and AMD sucks.

Dang, relax fanboys of bothsides. If you're happy with your slight performance in a few frames, rendering and bench scores with Alderlake chips, then go buy a happy meal. If you're content with an AM4 board and a 5000 series chip, then be happy. With my two 3080ti rigs, I probably won't notice any discernible differences on 1440p or 4k. But even if the Alderlake chips are better chips at this point, the 5000 series aren't slouches either, for gaming or production.

Honestly you're a couple years two late. Fall of 2020 was nothing but great MSRP priced cards

But send a friend to Microcenter then if you can't go

I never had to hope anything it was always there at launch or chosen days. It pays to do research and not listen to tech crunch clickbait articles

I wished having microcenter not far…

The nearby microcenter is fairfax, virginia. It takes 4.5 hours by driving via I85 and I95🤣.

I used to live in atlanta georgia. And moved to my current location in 2010 due to better $$$$.
I loved to visit 2 microcenter where not very far: marietta and duluth locations.
Motherboard combo. Gpu, open-box, clearance

I miss microcenter…😭
