Android os is the best os for TV's. It's clean easy to use every app is available to download. No adds other than "google recommendations" for tv shows / movies to rent on the play store, but you can move that section to the very bottom of the list so you never have to see it.

The reason it gets a bad wrap is because it isn't designed for budget TVs. The OS is a memory hog. Which all of these budget TVs don't have the on board ram to keep up with it and it results in the Home Screen lagging and pausing and every once in a while freezing and needing reset the TV.

Once you're in an app like Netflix or hbo there is no freezing. It's just the Home Screen. People flip over it because they buy these $300 TVs and expect them to work like the $2300 version.

I have the 65 in hisense that I got for $250 a few years back and while the tv studders every once in awhile (3 times a month or so) I've only had it completely freeze once.

I like the os feel and experience it gives.
I don't find it bad at all. You can always just get a Roku stick and plug it in and use that?
You get what you pay for, it's the buyers choice to choose the cheapest hardware to run the most powerful OS and have it seem lacking in performance, or buy better hardware like a nvidia shield or a tv with better specs to run it properly.

Manufacturers are delivering lowest cost and higher cost options, they are not in control of your choice on this matter.

I have the 65 inch U8G and it is a decent TV now.
The current firmware/software has fixed most or all of the major issues I've had.
Previous software was pretty bad and really detracts from the initial out of box experience.
Overall it is a decent TV for the features you get.
My panel definitely suffers from dirty screen effect or grey uniformity issues, but I can live it. There are trade offs to be expected for this feature set at this price point.
I'm not a fan of Android TV, the built-in Google assistant is pretty invasive but if you're into that then I guess it's ok. I just avoid that and use streaming devices.

I have the older 55 in H9G and I have been real happy with it for the 18 months I've had it. The H9G is actually somehow slightly better than or the same the U8G in most respects except that the U8G supports Variable Refresh Rate, but since I don't do video games that doesn't bother me. I paid $699 for my H9G and I'd feel $599 would be a steal for the H8G.

I wanted the 55 version but things may of changed. Any chance the 65 inch drops (no rush) or there's a comparable price range.

Gaming VRR is essential. Watch a lot of sports. Frankly it shouldn't suck at anything.

The Vizio m series which I have is excellent, the os sucks though.

Yup. I will never buy another Vizio. Had two Ms and both times their updates ended up chugging the OS, and their remotes are cruddy. As a budget tv, I had no big complaints about the picture quality but, geez, that OS can turn any good day into a bad one.

Thsi seller is a local store in my area.. I went in with cash in my pocket to just buy the TV & go. They would not match their own Amazon price or the eBay price that they listed. To buy it in store was 100.00 more plus tax.. I do not understand that logic. He was like, we will match Best Buy but not our own online pricing.

Thanks for the tip. When my plasma's ghosting gets too bad to tolerate, I'll look into it.

I was in the same boat. After having only plasmas for 15 years, all led blacks look gray. I just had to wait for a good sale and grab an oled. I'm not disappointed, but damn they are pricey.

With what you are accustomed to OLED is your friend

Do you live near a Microcenter?..if so they have some refurbished LG C1s in 55 ,65 and 77 that people seemed to be very happy with
OLEDs are that good? Thanks.

I'm actually VERY lucky to live near a Micro Center. I used to live in Guam and make a point to go there when I came through the LA area. But now I live 20 minutes away.

I'll keep the C1 line in mind. Thanks.

This has good blacks via local dimming but it's QLED not OLED. You'll still see some blooming around white text on black backgrounds if you keep the backlight & brightness too high.

LG C1 55" is down to $1000, so if you want perfection it's getting cheaper…
C1's? I keep hearing that. Thanks.

I have one of these TVs. It has very good Black Levels really close to OLED Levels. The picture is amazing but the OS sadly really bad if you try to use the Smart Apps. But if you use a Roku or something it works fine. For the price it is a great low end TV with high end features
Hey, I do use Roku! Thanks!

If you get a tv with a full array backlight and a lot of dimming zones, the blacks are pretty good if you use the local dimming feature on the TVs. That can cause some other issues like blooming but you'll be surprised on how good they can be. I still have 2 plasma TVs in my house and they're moved to spare rooms where they hardly get used anymore.

The upgrade to a 10 bit panel and bright enough for proper HDR will be a welcome improvement over your old plasma.
Good to learn that plasma isn't so great compared to new tech, finally! This one's actually a good price.

Still showing no delivery options on amazon, not sure why the deal isn't dead. I've never seen this message before versus it just being sold out

If you're still looking, they added me new delivery options in my area.
