Productivity is very subjective. Old school .exes, you're better off with Windows, but if you're not living in the 90s, most things run in a browser these days.

Its up to you as the user to decide whether or not its worth it. Just remember that laptops stay as you buy them. So typically would not recoomend a 8gb laptop. Yes, Apple does well with 8gb, but I still prefer 16gb. Drive space on the other hand, is a bit different, as many have external ssd's they use, which are far cheaper than you would pay buying from Apple.
Thank you! I ended up buying the 14" to future proof a bit more. And the last Macbook Pro I purchased lasted a long time.

So far I am enjoying mine. The screen is impressive, but I typically have mine closed and hooked up to a 32 LG 4k monitor. My old 2017 I now need to sell online (Swappa) as Bestbuy only offered me $335 on trade in.

Typing this on an 8 year old BestBuy MacBook floor model ... I took the unit right off the display table. I've not babied this laptop in the least and it's been used hard. It's been the most reliable computer I've owned and completely trouble free (with only expected wear & tear: battery has 1872 cycles, several keypads are worn through the letters, and the little rubber feet are gone).

You did excellent on that deal then. Me, I had a brand-new 2015 MacBook with screen spotting two years in and battery problems as well. Took extremely good care of it but had problems nonetheless. It's a tough choice, but this go-round I'm going to spend a little extra for new with cc extended warranty (especially at this discount).
