Not sure where you're coming from on this. Intel draws 300W on open test benches just to top AMD's gaming on chips that actually hit those speeds in people's normal machines. (Most prebuilts with Intel will actually not beat AMD because you need exceptional cooling or they throttle). So AMD made this ONE chip that could beat Intel using tech that Intel can't match.

Now when I see an Intel chip actually win in gaming at 125W power envelopes, I'll concede the crown to Intel. But AMD does need to get better at lying...ahem...I mean marketing. Just release a 600W chip that runs at 7GHz and needs phase cooling, then act like your chip is the fastest stock chip. That's nearly what Intel is doing. This CPU is very strong in gaming. Neck and neck with the latest CPUs in certain games.

coming from a 3900x. i dont need the extra cores for what i do and ive been wanting the x3d for a while.
I too have a 3900x... Is there much of a difference in games?

For gaming, it is the best for the socket that should ever be released, since 7000 and forward should all be on AM5 socket. The 5800x3d averages 50% better fps over the 3600 and upwards of double in some games. It's a crazy good chip. It's kind of apples and oranges but I'm definitely going to get one to replace the 1500X in a system of mine to extend the life of that PC for a long time.
I have a old b350m Bazooka,
Ryzen 5 1400,
2 x 8gb AX4U240038016-BRZ ddr4 2400 16 8Gx8 CL16-16-16,
Rx580 4gb

I mainly play Gears 5 1080p and future Gears 6 (maybe 4k?) so should I upgrade the gpu first then second 5800x3d?

if you are mainly aiming for 60fps and higher settings then you benifit most from gpu upgrades.if you go 5800x3d and are gpu bound you will see much smaller gain by upgrading you may notice some 0.1 and 1% lows increases or in cpu heavy titles you may notice more.

it can be quite a large jump if the game you are playing is cpu bound. If you are cranking settings then you will notice alot less. You can check in your current games if your gpu is under 90% then you are some what limited the lower the gpu usage the more of a limit you may have. if money is no issue the 7800x3d or what ever chip if they decide to give 3d cache to the 7000 series is also probably in the works

Gpu more important than cpu it seems. I can also just use the pc when Gears 6 comes out and see how it performs.

yep if you mainly aim for 60fps cpu will be alot less meaning full. If your b350m has a bios update for 5000 series it could be worth going up to a 5600 as they are 149 but don't get the G version as its a worse cpu with the igpu for the same price.
