Good deal but headsup for those sensitive to PWM, this screen has significantly lower PWM frequency compared to the previous MBP or MBA (current or previous).

I don't get headaches but my eyes have a hard time focusing and get tired on this machine quickly.
Open box excellent is even cheaper at $1,473.99 for me.
This seems to be standard price until Black Friday across various retailers. Not sure whether BF will see any further reduction or not but even if either retailer will price match or max difference will be 50-100$ than this price. I bought it from
Amazon at this price from last deal. If you need macbook now, do not need to wait hoping further reduction, go for it, even if at this price, this is worth it and value for money for every penny.

Is the 1tb basically a 2 GPU core, 512gb upgrade for $500?
I'm not sure on the CPU but the double storage was the thing I needed. I think the processor is the same on both but not 100% on that.

Ok, so I re-checked and yes, you are correct. The CPU is different.

I decided to get a MacBook 14 in Open Box Excellent condition. Only had 1 battery cycle so was basically new. I paid $1406 before cash back. Overall I'm pleased. I'm still trying to get past the quirkiness of the Mac OS but I do like the stability of the OS.

The prices always fluctuate I saw it for $1406 locally and decided to jump on it. I still think Apple laptops are over priced but this is the best deal I've seen, and I can return it until January 14th.

Had to respond to this... I went to the store and it was $100 less than the online open box price.

Glad I looked into this. Good luck to anyone else looking. Hope this helps!

Does BB offer a trade-in rebate to apply to purchase? I think they did with my phone when I bought it there last.

When I looked at the details on BB's website, you're spreading the payment out over three years, with a 20% lump sum payment at the end. That means less cash up front, and if inflation continues, you're saving (inflation rate, compounded) dollars per year (because future dollars are worth less than current dollars due to inflation).

So yeah, there's certainly a benefit, if one is financially disciplined enough to not go crazy on purchases. There's no fee or extra cost (that I saw, in a quick read, anyway), and the total price is the same.

Did you see something different in your reading?

Sounds like you also will miss out on the promotional price when going with the upgrade program.

"Gift Cards, reward certificates or coupons may not be applied toward the purchase of eligible products using the Upgrade+ Line of Credit. Best Buy Totaltech™ member pricing and other promotional discounts on hardware will not apply under Upgrade+. Upgrade+ payments are based on original, non-discounted price of product."

It depends entirely on what you're using it for. The Pro adds support for multiple external monitors (my must-have), a brighter screen with ProMotion, more ports, much better speakers, faster performance, and more storage.

For most folks, the M1 Air is still such a great value that it's the best option. It's a sleek, silent laptop with plenty of performance overhead for the vast majority of use cases. If you're doing media or development work, though, the Pro is a dream laptop that is well worth the extra cost.

I use audition and photoshop a good amount. Otherwise mostly browsing. Would the 14 pro benefit me massively over the air? Or negligible / not at all? I have been looking at both.

I currently have the 13 pro and hate it with a passion. Throttles constantly, battery sucks and keyboard has been replaced three times. (It's a work laptop.)

(Out of curiosity, which 13" Pro do you have currently?)

If you're concerned about performance and throttling—and you're experiencing issues with them in your current day-to-day usage—the 14" Pro is the way to go. You get twice as many high-performance cores as the base M1, twice as many graphics cores, active cooling, and twice the RAM and SSD on the base configuration. You don't want to get a brand new laptop and risk hitting its performance ceiling right out of the box.

Costco has the same price ($1599) and includes 2 year warranty. Is Best Buy better deal than Costco? Thanks for the advice here
