I have one that I bought for just under USD 30 iirc and I would not recommend it at that price. Remember fast Ethernet means 100 Mbps.

If you have a nice TP-Link router already, I'd say go for it and buy it but if you have a wifi router that doesn't support at least WiFi 5 (802.11ac), I strongly recommend upgrading that first.

If you know what an access point is, stop reading because you know more than I do haha

For the rest, yes, this worked for me back when I needed to use my old computers in the basement but it worked much better after I got my new wifi router and modem (I was on Comcast Xfinity at that time).

Another tip, if you have poor connection, try connecting by Ethernet directly into the router with a good Ethernet cable. If you still have network problems, complain to the provider. I know we don't have options it can't hurt to ask them if the problem might be outside the house...
