Has been cheaper before: https://slickdeals.net/f/17069668-lenovo-legion-slim-5-laptop-ryzen-5-7640hs-16-wuxga-144hz-rtx-4060-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-900-free-shipping?src=SiteSearchV2Algo

No reason to buy at this price especially when the 7840HS with QHD display was just $50 more 2 days ago.

I got the 7840HS certified refurbished version. Looks pretty good. Only thing is that it always fails to upgrade BIOS from Lenovo Vantage. Ended up with an invalid firmware. Luckily, it has a feature to detect and recover from the broken firmware. So, all is not lost! :whew: There has been threads online speculating that it is due to a very small EFI partition. And you will have to do a fresh windows install to be able to recreate a larger partition for it. Just wondering if you folks who got the brand new ones have the same issue or not.

It was meaning in the past. Doesn't mean it will come back in the near future. Also there is an open box Excellent option that is cheaper for $860.

It's holiday season and it's definitely going to be cheaper in the coming days.

Have you tried downloading the BIOS firmware file from the Lenovo site itself. Might work to "reset" the current setting and it should resync with Lenovo Vantage.

Sorry, I asked this in the wrong thread. I thought this was the 14" Legion Slim.

Yes, tried the last two recent versions directly downloaded from the support site. Same result! Not trying to hijack this thread. If this is a widespread issue, then it is not much of a deal.

I didn't buy a refurbished 16 inch Legion Slim 5 but an Open Box Excellent one from Best Buy and I was able to update the BIOS just fine. Not sure what is going on with your PC. What version of BIOS does your Legion 16 Slim 5 do you currently have?

Mine is M3CN34WW from June. Lenovo Vantage recommends M3CN38WW from September. There is also a ...39WW from November. The new ones address quite a few CVEs so I think it is probably worth to upgrade. BTW, how big is your EFI partition? Mine is 100MB.

I started off with M3CN34WW out of the box and the Vantage tool upgraded me to M3CN38WW which I think it did successfully. Like you mentioned for some reason Lenovo doesn't list the M3CN39WW but I will go ahead and manually update it myself. How do you find your EFI partition?

EDIT: I just updated my BIOS to M3CN39WW successfully. Still curious about what is going on with your laptop.

EDIT2: Downloaded a partition tool and was able to see my EFI partition size. It looks like it is 260 MB. So yeah if you only had 100 MB, that might be too small which is what caused your BIOS upgrade problem.

Search for "disk management" from start menu, choose "Create and format hard disk partitions " you will see the partitions in the tool.

Like I posted in my edit, I used a Mini Partition Wizard tool and saw my EFI partition size is 260 MB. After the reformat, what is your EFI partition size now?
