I'd say I wish I would've went with a Sony instead, as originally planned.

In regards to scaling, some TV like mine are terrific and some are horrible. Only matters for older OTA content.
A good scaler can make a 480p single looks pretty close to 720p
Amazing bang for the buck. As for reliability I have many TCL models from cheapest to most expensive and all are still going strong since 2016
One is still going strong after 3yrs and the other one DIED exactly at 1yr, 1 month!
Black screen, sound only. TCL support let me know that it was out of warranty and nothing could be done.
So I don't know. I've had the 85" TCL on my watch list for awhile but now I don't know if I trust them or not.
If I'm going to get scared into a buying some big extended warranty, maybe I should just use that money to get an LG or Samsung instead.

With no posted review mentioning such this issue, nothing else makes sense.
Regardless I still stick with 'big box warehouse' purchases from major companies to know my warranty will have no issues.
