Damn I'm tempted to return my 2024 32GB 4070 that ran me $1500.

This is a solid deal for half. Thoughts ?
Well, you paid a small premium for the OLED display and the sleeker design.

That said the 2023 model does also have a nice display, it's just that (except for the 4090 model which has mini-LED) it's an IPS panel and doesn't support HDR in games.

You're also getting less RAM here although the 2023 model (unlike the 2024 model) actually has user upgradable RAM. It's up to you whether the trade off is worth the dollars.

Has been a great computer for past 6 months (bought new). Left USB-C (PD charging port) just went bad outta nowhere. Time to RMA to ASUS and see what kind of BS they pull.

I have both 2023 and 2024 models of the G14. The 2024 model is so far ahead of the old one in terms of build quality, weight and overall polish. Its Macbook like. The OLED screen is incredible. Battery life is also great - I am getting around 10 hours doing casual work on Quiet mode. Performance wise and gaming its similar to the 2023 model. Highly recommend going with the 2024 model when its on sale over this one though. Its worth the slight premium.

The battery life on this is noticeably better than the newer OLED model. The thermals however are still somewhat questionable but compared to the latter, are better.
Battery life is better on the 2024 model. I have both.

Isn't the power overall better on the 2023 model though? Because the 2024 is thinner and lacks the thermal headroom? Not that the 2023 model doesn't get toasty, but I have mine tuned pretty well through G-Helper. I pull 10,600 in Time Spy with the boost set to Efficient-Aggressive and a little undervolting of the CPU+ overclocking of the GPU. Gotta say, this is the overall closest things to a unicorn laptop I've seen, esp. when it gets 6-8 hours of battery for regular usage.

Def worth it at this price. Load it up with as much ram as you can and pop in a 4TB drive. Put an intel WiFi card and in this thing is the best you're gonna get for the price.

Whats the cheapest way to warranty this? Asus out-of-warranty costs are astronomical. $179.99 a year seems too much for just the laptop. Should I extend through Best Buy or Asus?

no upgradeable ram, so a lot more expensive for same performance

My 2024 model gets better battery life than my 2023 model. At least an hour on average. I also get 11,900 on Timespy with the 2024 4070 model. Not sure what to tell you other than the 2024 model is better all around (outside of non-upgradable RAM... but the RAM is faster in the 2024 model).

Bestbuy lists HDMI 2.0 , not 2.1 , huge difference. No usb 4
Yep. Also, 2560x1440 (16:9), not 2560x1600 (16:10).

I'm happy with my G14 (23). Too lazy to open it to upgrade RAM/SSD.
Isn't the RAM soldered on?

Edit: Turns out that, yes, it's soldered on, but there's an additional sodimm slot as seen here: https://youtu.be/lcCjBJ4ipoM?t=376
