I really wish BB would sell the 16GB variants. 8GB is ok for most use cases, but anyone working with RAW photos will quickly wish they had more memory.

Getting this for my first year college student.

I use 8GB base M1 Mini, iMac and Pro and they all work perfectly - never slows down, never gets hot, and fans never spin up.

This is a sign that the new gen M1x or M2 chip is on the horizon.....

Thanks, grabbed a gold. The student discount didn't show up until I signed into my account. I bought one a few years ago (great deal for $599) but somehow my daughter borrowed it and it didn't come back. Oh well, good excuse to buy a new one.

Depends on the type of video. If it's 4k video in finalcut then you might be better off with the pro. If it's just lightroom and images, then the air is fine.
