also, i would wait for third party benchmarks and not take either leaked benchmarks or intel's own benchmarks for obvious reasons (unfinished products and/or biased). also, the benchmarks may have been based on windows 11 which wasn't properly optimized for ryzen until recently.
i do agree that you should wait before purchasing a cpu. alder lake's release should stir up competition and hopefully drive down prices of current chips.
but no, alder lake won't be cheaper. if it does perform significantly better, the market will naturally drive down the prices of zen chips (and intel's own current 11th gen offerings).

stays cool as a cucumber also. Never has broke 60c even while bench marking with all core 4.85ghz water cooled of course.
And pbo regularly puts my good cores at 5+ghz
Aside:
Of course I'm probably going to the dark side with Intel 12th gen when I can find one. I feel strangled by the lack of pcie lanes especially with multiple high speed pcie4 ssds... So there's that. All 24 threads rarely get pegged, and I think the big/little setup is a great idea and will turn out to be better for my use pattern.
yeah good luck getting one of those

So the latest thing to combat this is amd pbo. That is letting an individual core or a few cores boost up to a higher speed than the rest of the cores. But I feel like a full redesign to big.little will be a good move for the industry.
I bought 2 days earlier. Just ask for a price adjustment. No go. So I just. Canceled and reordered. I couldn't reorder first then cancel because I guess its one per household.
