You do you bro. No need to come in the thread and explain yourself. Nobody buys a mac for gaming.

Productivity is very subjective. Old school .exes, you're better off with Windows, but if you're not living in the 90s, most things run in a browser these days.

So what's the better deal? Buying through Costco with Apple Care or through Best Buy and buying TotalTech membership. Looks like $20 cheaper with Best Buy, but is there a catch here I am missing?
costco you get extended warranty if you use the costco citi card

bestbuy you need to have totaltech active when filing the claim. this means you need to pay $199 every year

Ah I don't have a Citi card, but having the totaltech when filing the claim is a deal breaker. Will go with Costco thanks.

if you plan to buy hoards of apple products from bb (phone, watch, laptop, desktop, ipads) then totaltech would be the better deal as applecare covers all of them

trying to find a reason to buy this..

I currently have two 34" ultrawide monitors stacked on top of each other combined with a solid gaming computer.

Work has provided me with a top of the line windows laptop.

I have a 2015 13" macbook pro with 256gb SSD + 16gb ram which I never use.

Have a 2016 ipad pro.

I hardly ever travel..

lmao!

I was actually in need of an apple watch since I'm still using the 3 so wanted to upgrade to the 8.

Ipad is getting old and I wouldn't mind having another for trading stocks.

But a macbook? what would I use it for Frown I want it but it's just a waste I think.

Can I game on it? I play diablo 2, world of warcraft..

Much faster? M2 MBA is faster at single core CPU and only about 10% slower in multi core. Graphics isn't much difference either. And since he got the 512GB SSD that shouldn't be different. Biggest loss imo is the 8GB RAM vs 16GB.
mac rumor -
"GPU
The M1 Pro features up to eight more GPU cores over the M2 , resulting in a major boost in graphics performance. In early Geekbench Metal benchmarks, the M2 chip scored 30,627, noticeably less than the 39,758 score obtained by the M1 Pro . The added graphics cores make the M1 Pro much more capable in GPU-intensive tasks."

Note: tested was with m2 Pro 10 core gpu vs m1 pro 16 core gpu. (score is going scale if you buy higher core version or base)

But the question is - does Metal always scale like GeekBench Metal test does, or do some Metal apps/games function best with fewer, faster GPU cores (like Apple would have us believe the M2 has) ?

You mention that you have a 2015 you never use. Is this because of performance or because of the other computers. Honestly, sounds like you don't need one as long as your current setup works. Costco extended there offer "$350 savings is valid 8/31/22 through 9/25/22. While supplies last. Limit 2 per member." So I guess you have some time.

I called in today and they were able to match from the 1699 purchase from early this month. No special status or BB credit card but I was an elite and did still spend a lot in the last 6 months.
