Productivity is very subjective. Old school .exes, you're better off with Windows, but if you're not living in the 90s, most things run in a browser these days.

I've been contemplating on buying the 16" for months because of price. Even with 400 off, the 1tb version is still $2200.
My Honda isn't worth that much. Lol
1. You could run windows by downloading windows bootcamp right? Now back then I read it cost to buy it but now it's free? Anyone here bought a mac just to use windows on it or is that waste of money?
2. How is this processor compared to say a Ryzen 5 or 7 or i5 or i7 laptop whether 11th or 12th generation?
3. Is the battery very good? That is one reason why I am considering this laptop. I do plan to have it connected to 2 external monitors though but if I have say a power outage, I want to use this laptop by itself. Would it last at last 3 hours minimum if you are doing something intensive?
4. What is the graphics card in terms of gaming? Is it much worst than say a 3050? Is it on level with an intel uhd or intel iris xe graphics?
5. Would you choose this over a dell xps 15 9510/9520 or legion slim 7 or legion 5 pro?
6. Could you just replace the ssd yourself and get a 1tb ssd and take out this 512gb ssd or you can't do that? What about the ram? Can you remove it and put in 32gb ram?

Easiest way is to look up Passmark scores of the CPUs you're interested in comparing. Google "passmark CPUNAME" will do the trick. Single-core most directly impacts user experience for most common user-driven / user-constrained apps.
It will last for double to triple that without a problem. The battery life with ARM is the best in the business.
Depends on the game, depends on the app. For Intel games run via Rosetta 2 emulation, it's nothing special (1050Ti maybe? 1060?). For native M1 games, it's pretty good (read the Steam description of the M1 compatible version of Baldur's Gate 3 - it's competitive with the 2070). Apple is working with vendors to bring a few big games to the mix sooner or later, but honestly, don't buy this to game. It's not that market. Or run Apple Arcade games (from the iPhone/iPad - most work very well). But set your expectations at about that level.
What are your expectations? Not to run MacOS apps I wouldn't.

Well if someone downloads ton of songs and have programs that use up lot of database, 512gb wouldn't be a lot if you use it for a long time. That is what I meant. I diidn't mean like right after getting it. Also I heard people who play games on the computer, don't those games use up at least 100gb or so? So wouldn't that use up lot of the ssd? So I thought that is a lot for a laptop where you can't just upgrade the storage.
But the long battery is what seem to be good about this. But I have to use windows though as the programs I download and play on will be on that. So don't go with any mac then right? Again I heard back then you could download bootcamp into windows computer.

If you need and want windows, I would push you to windows laptops. If you want good battery life and quality build, you may even get cheaper than this. HP Elitebook, LG Gram, and Dell Latitude series are battery powerhouse laptops (at least to me, in windows). You may never reach the actual battery life of some of these though, which some MacBook Airs M1 get to 18 hours of battery life (sounds insane but true).
Also, if you are just doing online poker gaming and some other random work, this particular mac is overkill. easily go for an M1 Macbook Air that still goes for $900 or cheaper on sale.
If you need Windows at this point, you either need an older Mac that runs intel chips or buy a windows laptop. Again, you could do parallels on the M Chips, but I never liked it. If someone else has an opinion on parallels, please chime in.
The poker clients that I play on and software that I use with these poker clients only allow windows. You cannot use mac with it because the software used with these poker clients to not support it. These are not poker sites you play on a web browser.

I experience a ton of lag when playing on these poker sites when playing lot of tables. Basically to make it simple,. the more tables I play, the more lag and freezing I get. Back then there were no issues with this on the same laptop but apparently these poker clients changed their software where it seems you might need a fast graphics card and surely a fast processor to handle it. Does that make sense? The thing is I"m not 100% sure if I need a graphics card like at least a 3050 or not, but I got to assume maybe my processor is a bit slow for it? Again this laptop is an old laptop but its fast enough for everything else that is non poker on my computer. But my primary purpose of my laptop is online poker. Again I play it while connected to 2 external monitors plugged in almost always. Having good battery is important because there are power outages where I am at..
I mean when I play online poker, I use a program that tracks my play. So the more that I play, the more space it uses up. To make it real simple, this same xps 15 9550 I used a 250gb ssd years ago. It was more than enough for many years. Then after all this time, I notice I had less than 30gb available. This was due to my playing and it uses up lot of the database. I can of course delete it but don't want to. So I mean 512gb wouldn't be that much space for someone if they use lot of space on the computer. Again If I didn't play, I would not even come close to 250gb even.

It sounds like you're guessing - I see disk, CPU, graphics card - all kinds of possibilites. It might be wise, rather than purchasing anything, to instead try to figure out where the speed / lag holdup / issue is coming from. You could update your drivers, confirm you've got the latest everything, then you could open up Task Manager and Resource Manager and look at what's burning cycles / what's happening when the lag takes place. It's quite possible there's a problem on your machine and you could identify it and fix the situation for free.
That said, that's a slow laptop, and it's not getting any faster.
If you have power outages, buy a UPS. They're $100 - $200 and will fully address the issue, at least for 30 minutes or so. If you have a power outage one wonders how you'd get online, anyway...

however, it shows 130 power cycle count. is this a normal figure?
