Most people on LGA 1700 already have Alder Lake, so it's probably a pretty rare scenario where it makes sense to go from some lower end alder lake CPU to a 12700k but *not* Raptor Lake or Raptor Lake Refresh, which are at least somewhat faster. It's also tough to justify a brand new LGA 1700 build when AM5 exists and we're not that far away from Intels new platform.
Still, no doubt that this is an absolute shitload of performance for $175 bucks.

the AMD alternative would be similar to getting a 5800x3d/5700x3d and a cheap AM4 mobo, by sacrificing upgradibility for price/performance.
basically if youre interested in this, youre more interested in price/perf and not upgradability.
just reinstall the Windows, everything is gonna be fine. I have 7700K lol

it makes more sense to buy a 5700x3d or 5800x3d if youre on AM4 and want a budget upgrade, rather than buy a cheaper 12700k and a new mobo.
You're better off just buying a case that is made to accommodate your motherboard. If your pc is a average proprietary computer, the parts in it are most likely assembled to only be compatible with that case and will not accept aftermarket parts. Just use a pc building website to pick and choose parts to build or just buy a prebuilt unit.
yeah
make sense
thank you

I'm looking for either an extremely good deal on CPU/mobo/RAM combo, or hold out for for the new product line.
