Here's the best guide I've come across on how to use Dirac:

And Dirac Live does manage bass. According to Dirac Support:
"Yes, standard Dirac Live has always corrected the subwoofer response, taking advantage of the AVR's Bass Management."

"I just added 2 more Atmos speakers to my existing 5.2.2 to make it a 5.2.4"
I get sound is subjective but that soundbar coming close, there is something definitely amiss!
A properly implemented 7.2.4 traditional setup in no way should be close!
Especially when often a soundbar plays streamed content which is a major drop off in quality also.
A soundbar isn't even designed to compete with a traditional setup!
As you mentioned, sound is very subjective but soundbars have definitely improved and getting closer to our AVR systems. I have no idea sales figures between full hifi systems and soundbars currently, but I figure the latter is more popular with the masses and may draw the attention of audio enthusiasts like us in this thread to take a look. With the ease of installation and the quality now being put into systems like the Q990C, Sonos, Nakamichi and Sony, that closing of the sound quality gap at vastly reduced costs and convenience, I'm just saying soundbars maybe legit consideration today and in the future.

Dirac Live does not offer their sub/bass management RC(DLBC).
It is a random bug that requires power cycling and is just annoying.
I do like the sound profile it produces though.
Better than past Sony / Tecnics receivers I had used.
Onkyo is new to me though; good to hear your experience has been good.

I mainly use it for PS5 gaming + watching movies / shows via my Apple TV.
I've started to get random failures to wake / connect to the speakers which is only fixable by power cycling.
I also had an issue playing FFVII Remake where my TV (LG OLED CX) would crash during heavy action scenes.
A FW update to the TV fixed that, but I'd likely just hook up my PS5 to the Onkyo directly whereas I currently have to hook it up to my TV.
From what I've seen in this thread and online, people tend to prefer Onkyo receivers lately.
I certainly do like how my Yamaha makes my speakers sound, but maybe I need to consider that a lot of people prefer the sound that Onkyo receivers produce.
For sure though, the deal itself is pretty great, right?
