I use a DeepCool AK620 with the 7700X.
Is the one soon opening in Charlotte too far away?

They need to build more stores or let you pay for shipping! My nearest Microcenter is a 6 hour drive away. There aren't many around. I want to give them money, but they won't let me!

It can become a lot more than entry level, but yes if you toss a $100-200 card in it you'll have an entry level gaming PC. I put a refurb 2080 Ti in mine for about $330 from Zotac.
The only thing to consider is cooling, it runs HOT. I started off with an EVGA CLC 280, and even with doing some PBO tuning (undervolting) it was running pretty hot. I ended up upgrading to an Arctic Freezer II 360 and things are quiet and much cooler now, I think I max while gaming around 58c compared to 90s before.
While I will probably upgrade to one of the x3d chips someday just because I can, I'm very happy with how stable and cost effective this upgrade was.
I was skeptical of all the comments too, but I had zero issues and it was easier than when i built an am4 a couple years ago.
Also, did they drop the price more? I'm seeing $341, i paid $365 a week ago.

snag a Thermalright Peerless Assassin, nothing comes close in terms of pure value to performance. Can look at Gamer's Nexus charts either online or in their own video reviews if you need some details. Great thing about the 7700x is it's incredibly tunable through Ryzen Master, AMD makes it incredibly user friendly. Absolutely worst case you can reduce the power draw a bit and lose ~3 to 5% performance for absolutely perfect thermals, but my guess is the Peerless Assassin will likely make that a non-issue even at stock settings.

AM5 platform is safe. Just update Mobo BIOS and stay away from EXPO if you want stability.
