I really wish BB would sell the 16GB variants. 8GB is ok for most use cases, but anyone working with RAW photos will quickly wish they had more memory.

Thanks for posting OP!! Is Applecare recommended? $199 for 3 years. Are there other fees involved if the item needs to be repaired?

Don't forget about apple's back to school promo- I think it'll cost a little more for the base MacBook Air, but you get free AirPods.

MacBook Air 512GB for $999 has same processor as MacBook Pro with 8 core GPU. MacBook Air 256GB has processor with 7 core GPU. I think it is worth the upgrade for double the storage, and 8 core GPU if you can afford it.

Same, I have 17yo and hes done fine with a chromebook and older windows machine.

Thanks, that makes sense.

I'm still debating if 16gb might be worth it and/or if waiting for the potential redesign next year with upgraded M2 processor (or whatever it will be called).

I run a computer lab with base 2014 Mac book airs. I have only upgraded to Mojave. Safari works great. Final cut pro works, but somethings bog it down, like 3d effects. Photoshop 2021 is same. Heavy tasks will cause you to wait a while. Ialways tell students to close unused tabs and apps. That being said, they have been great for 6 years. We are supposed to upgrade this year so I'm happy about that for sure.
