Productivity is very subjective. Old school .exes, you're better off with Windows, but if you're not living in the 90s, most things run in a browser these days.

I've owned only Apple computers since 1994 (except one Windows based computer for specific tasks).
A 2019 Macbook not only babied but hardly used inexplicably died about 4-5 months after the one year warranty expired. Just shut off while working and never started again. Ever. Dead as a doornail. According to Apple, it was logic board failure. That's to say it made it through Apple's quality control.
There's no guarantees when it comes to electronics -regardless of who makes them and reputation - or I should rather say there's no guarantees except for the guarantee. The warranty.
After the warranty expires you roll the dice. How reliable are your superpowers? Are your prognostication superpowers 100% reliable? How's your telekinesis working these days? If your supernatural powers are anything less than 100% reliable, then you're in the same situation as everyone else. Which is to say 100% ignorant of what the future of your electronic device will be.
So you either gamble and eat a potentially huge loss if you lose, or take a small loss (unless you have something like the 'free' Costco 4 year warranty) and obtain a warranty to CYA.
You gamble either way. No way around it.
YMWV.
PS: One benefit of AppleCare is if you sell the computer while there's coverage left, it adds value as the policy transfers to the buyer (while also providing some value in reassurance for the buyer in the event the computer is found to be defective after the sale - and undisclosed by a deceptive seller).
PSS: about 25 years ago while traveling internationally an Apple laptop 'slid' off the bench it was placed on at a train station and sustained damaged to it's shell. An AmEx CC with free accident insurance covered the repair cost.
If your laptop incident is caused by someone else's actions, it's still an accident. And it's still damaged.

anyway in terms of bang for the buck the value has always been the base end and getting a discount there which this is. The only better deals would be open box versions below this but those will be harder to come by for most depending on your location
Again, I suggest you try SC2. It's a far better experience to play, and it's a far better experience on AS also.
i'm not really a big gamer though..I just like RTS games like WC3 and SC:BW. Mostly SC. I tried SC2 and will maybe give it another shot. I will also look into the reddit threads.

10 minutes in, the previously 120fps indication (the YouTube videos seem to only fight with one player on each side, and only measure fps at the start or only a few minutes in, which is a bit silly) is now down to between 30 to 50 fps, and there are some slowdowns I can see, but overall the game is perfectly playable.
Note this is all on battery. A 30 minute game drops battery by around 10-15%, which is pretty impressive.
In stark contrast, my Dell G15 16GB/256GB i5-11250H + 3050 will go through the battery almost immediately if I dare to use the GPU, and even if I try to avoid it, it eats the battery very quickly (and I'm typically forced to flip to a lower power mode in order to eek some more life out of it). Most of the time I just take the AC brick with my when I travel; with the MBP14 I don't.
