FYI, it was $529 before Thanksgiving. If you can hold and wait 😁

the Pioneer is a better model. it has more power and a full set of pre-outs, so that extra cost is pretty small to be able to have that amplifier expandability later on if you need it.

Only thing stopping most from jumping on this is the lack of pre-outs. Big issue long term as you can't just juice it up with external amps.

It was $529 for like an hour, and then they had it on sale for $629 for a week. Not sure I'd hold my breath for the $529 price to return.
Who had it for $529? Any idea what the low has been for the RZ5

Damn I miss Fry's...

RZ50 hasn't been much below ~$1k but the LX505 is $749 right now, if the crossover limitations don't cause any issues with your setup then it would probably be worth if you want to expand to 7.1.4.

I have a similar setup with the NR7100, MiniDSP on subs integrated with MSO (long process).

Any of the HDMI ins should work on your receiver, then run an HDMI cable from your receiver's HDMI out to one of your TV's HDMI in (if you haven't set that up already).
So I'll need 2 HDM's from the receiver to the tV? I've tried this & no sound coming from receiver when I plug the fire stick directly into the receiver- what else would I need for this to work? Thanks!

Sounds worth it to me though. One day I'll have to go MiniDSP but I barely had time to set up Dirac lol

If you're main priority is Dirac, keep in mind you still have to purchase Dirac Live with the 3800.
On the other hand the 3800 will offer the other half of Dirac DLBC this coming year.

Here is feature comparison of both.

I believe Dirac DLBC is only necessary if you have multiple subs, not if you're only running one (or one sub channel). Given that you can only run a single sub channel on the 7100, it's a bit of a moot point.

Yeah, it is. Without proper time alignment the subs will be fighting each other and the mains at the crossover point - that can cause all kinds of issues in the response. When properly integrated it just sounds like you're listening to full range speakers that have a response down to 10-15hz.

Sub/bass integration is crucial not only with subs but also with the whole system.

If you understand what Dirac Live does for your loudspeakers, DLBC does the same with sub(s) and bass throughout the rest of your system.

Why Dirac offers a single sub version of DLBC.

Doesn't seem so. I bought this a week or two ago and it keeps blacking out in the middle of gaming on the PS5. Need to contact their support, but updating the firmware didn't fix it

the blackouts have been due to cec control for many, try disabling it or unplugging all hdmi other than ps5 and see if it fixes it..

Haven't bought Onkyo in years. Have they finally learned how to make a receiver where the HDMI board doesn't get fried in 2-3 years?

Yep. Not needed for 1 or 2 subs. DLBC is preferred for 3 or more subs.

Two subs really need individual time alignment. Dirac full bandwidth is not going to give optimal results, if they are mirrored at the front in a perfectly symmetrical room it may give acceptable output - but still best to have a miniDSP or an AVR with individual sub outs.

I imagine it's because it's THX Select certified and not Ultra or Dominus, so held to a lower standard. The output standard for instance is only required for peak, not continuous output as with the other standards.

I don't know all the details of the varying levels of certs of the top of my head though, so maybe someone else can chime in.
The THX Select standard is theater reference sound 12 feet from your TV. Unless you have very inefficient speakers, given you'll run powered subs, this has plenty of power, I'm running it on a 5.2.4 setup and it works great.

This or the Denon AVR-X2800H for $770 (Amazon)? Mainly for audio, don't care for home theater functionality.
