the Pioneer is a better model. it has more power and a full set of pre-outs, so that extra cost is pretty small to be able to have that amplifier expandability later on if you need it.

Only thing stopping most from jumping on this is the lack of pre-outs. Big issue long term as you can't just juice it up with external amps.

RZ50 hasn't been much below ~$1k but the LX505 is $749 right now, if the crossover limitations don't cause any issues with your setup then it would probably be worth if you want to expand to 7.1.4.

I have a similar setup with the NR7100, MiniDSP on subs integrated with MSO (long process).

I believe Dirac DLBC is only necessary if you have multiple subs, not if you're only running one (or one sub channel). Given that you can only run a single sub channel on the 7100, it's a bit of a moot point.

Yeah, it is. Without proper time alignment the subs will be fighting each other and the mains at the crossover point - that can cause all kinds of issues in the response. When properly integrated it just sounds like you're listening to full range speakers that have a response down to 10-15hz.

Sub/bass integration is crucial not only with subs but also with the whole system.

If you understand what Dirac Live does for your loudspeakers, DLBC does the same with sub(s) and bass throughout the rest of your system.

Why Dirac offers a single sub version of DLBC.

Doesn't seem so. I bought this a week or two ago and it keeps blacking out in the middle of gaming on the PS5. Need to contact their support, but updating the firmware didn't fix it

the blackouts have been due to cec control for many, try disabling it or unplugging all hdmi other than ps5 and see if it fixes it..

Yep. Not needed for 1 or 2 subs. DLBC is preferred for 3 or more subs.

Two subs really need individual time alignment. Dirac full bandwidth is not going to give optimal results, if they are mirrored at the front in a perfectly symmetrical room it may give acceptable output - but still best to have a miniDSP or an AVR with individual sub outs.
